Alabama's Highway Patrol Accident Investigation Unit needed rugged mobile PCs that could survive the rough environments of crash sites and junkyards. The department was experiencing a high PC failure rate, leading to extensive downtime. Additionally, investigators were having difficultly reading computer screens in direct sunlight. Based on successful in-field tests, the Highway Patrol chose Panasonic Toughbook laptops. They proved to be the most rugged and durable, and their high nit screen was readable in even the brightest outdoor conditions.
