FEMA PaRR Inspection Solution
The U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is responsible for helping communities respond to man-made and natural disasters, including hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, floods and terrorist attacks. FEMA’s Partnership for Response and Recovery (PaRR) program must be able to perform housing inspections in disaster areas—often while flooding and power outages persist. Inspectors must collect and evaluate data in order to arrange temporary housing to issue grants for desperate residents whose homes have been damaged or destroyed.
To make the program more efficient, FEMA equips its field inspectors with Toughbook fully-rugged laptops. The Toughbook convertible tablet with digitizer screen and reliable wireless connectivity make it easy to gather and relay data back to FEMA headquarters to share information with other agencies and organizations in real time. The integrated digital camera allows the inspector to use one tool for the entire job, so that more homes can be inspected and more residents can be helped promptly. The solid construction and long battery life of Toughbook mobile computers assure inspectors can continue with their inspections, even in extreme environmental conditions with limited power.
