PANASONIC
ANNOUNCES 7TH GENERATION PROFESSIONAL SERIES PLASMA FAMILY WITH
FIVE NEW MODELS
New Extended-Life Panels Deliver 60,000-Hour Service Life
New 65” HD Plasma Provides Super-Sized Display
SECAUCUS, NJ ( October 6, 2004) – Panasonic
Broadcast has introduced its seventh generation of Professional Series plasma
displays consisting of five new models, the 65”
TH-65PHD7UY, 50” TH-50PHD7UY and 42” TH-42PHD7UY
high definition panels, and the 42” TH-42PWD7UY
and 37” TH-37PWD7UY standard definition panels.

The new 65” TH-65PHD7UY, Panasonic’s largest
plasma to date, is ideal for any application calling for
an eye-catching, super-sized vertical or horizontal display,
from a building lobby to a boardroom to an exhibit hall.
The new Professional Series family boasts Panasonic’s phenomenal
image quality, high contrast (4000:1 on SD models and
3000:1 on HD units) and multi-slot functionality, plus
they incorporate significant improvements in peak brightness,
displayable colors, service life, multi-screen capabilities
and customization options.
The 16:9 plasmas are packed with innovative picture-improving
technologies including a Real Black Drive System, a Deep
Black Filter, Super Real Gamma System, Adaptive Automatic
Gain Control (AGC), Motion Picture Disturbance (MPD) Noise
Reduction, 3D Color Management, and Active I/P (Interlace/Progressive)
Conversion.
The improved Super Real Gamma System reproduces gradations
in steps equivalent to 2,048 shades and up to 8.58 billion
colors to deliver astonishing image depth and provide
ultra-subtle nuances in dark scenes. A new Multi-facet
Asymmetrical Configuration Hyper-pixel (MACH) panel features
a bounded cell structure and new phosphor material that
dramatically improves a panel’s service life to
60,000 hours*, boosts peak brightness by more than 10%
(from prior models) and increases the resistance to static-image
burn-in to the same level as CRT displays.
Image-enhancing
improvements new to the Professional Series include: Adaptive Automatic
Gain Control (AGC) which increases contrast while maintaining
a high S/N ratio; Motion Picture Disturbance that detects
motions patterns that generate noise and adjusts the image
to maximum quality without diminishing the quality of
stationary background objects; a 3D Color Management system
which provides finer, independent control and correction
of hue, saturation and brightness; and Active I/P (Interlace/Progressive)
Conversion which reduces interlace-to-progressive conversion
noise.
Professional Series panels are equipped with Dual Picture that
combines any two AV signals and displays them in three
different modes (two picture-in-picture and one picture-out-picture
modes); a Digital Zoom to enlarge a portion of an image
up to four times normal size and display it full screen;
and a built-in video wall processor that enables up to
4X 4 multi-screen configuration. Sixteen 65” TH-65PHD7UYs
can be configured to create a massive 260” diagonal
display.
For
the HD panels, the TH-65PHD7UY and TH-50PHD7UY have a
resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, and the TH-42PHD7UY delivers
1024 x 768 pixels. The TH-42PWD7UY and TH-37PWD377UY offer
a resolution of 852 x 480 pixels. The units can display
1080p 24p/24sf, 1080i 50/60, 720p 50/60, 480 p/i and 576
p/i and offer support for VGA, SVGA, XGA, SXGA and UXGA
resolution.
The panels come equipped with multi-function slots where
a variety of optional IT networking or AV input boards
can be added or exchanged to customize the units to meet
specific applications.
Professional Series displays can be vertically or horizontally mounted
and are ideal as updateable digital signage or for an
endless array of multimedia applications. These ultra-thin
displays offer a wide viewing angle of more than 160 degrees.
The panels are equipped with a host of energy-saving functions,
and its Contrast Automatic Tracking System (C.A.T.S.)
senses ambient lighting conditions and adjusts brightness
and gradation accordingly. The addition of “menu”
and “enter” buttons to the front panel permits
control of on-screen display functions without the remote
control.
The new 50” TH-50PHD7UY, 42” TH-42PWD7UY and
37” TH-37PWD7UY high-definition models are available
this month at suggested list prices of $6,495, $2,795
and $2,395, respectively. The 65” TH-65PHD7UY and
42” TH-42PHD7UY will be available in November with
pricing to be announced.
*Service life is the period
during which the display's light output is 50% or more
of the original light output. |
