About Toughbook

Recycle, Remarket, Reuse

Panasonic Toughbook® mobile computers have been proven to have much longer life cycles than average laptops. But when it comes time to retire one, customers will find Panasonic has several options available for them.

Panasonic partners with asset recovery and recycling provider PlanITROI to not only offer a computer recycling program, but services to remarket and reuse retired Toughbook laptops. All options include the removal of data from the hard drives, in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) guidelines, so crucial information will not end up in the wrong hands. In addition, all Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT) standards are strictly followed to ensure minimal environmental impact.

Recycle

Panasonic and partner PlanITROI offer a laptop recycling plan for Toughbook mobile computers that have reached the end of their life cycles, in accordance with environmental standards and DoD security guidelines. The process works the same for both individuals and organizations and is free of charge.

Remarket

With the Panasonic and PlanITROI remarket service, organizations can not only be environmentally-conscious but also save money on future Toughbook laptop purchases. The service provides organizations with credit for donated out-of-warranty computers that can be used toward the purchase of new Toughbook units. The service also ensures that data is wiped from the hard drives in accordance with DoD guidelines.

Reuse

With the reuse program, customers wishing to donate Toughbook laptops can do so — and get tax credit too. This environmentally-friendly option is provided by Panasonic's recycling partner PlanITROI, which will donate the laptops or help organizations sell them to employees.

A recent example includes the donation of Toughbook laptops to help build a library in Ghana, which will benefit as many as 300 children.
