Certification by the U.S. Department of Defense is critical to accomplishing interoperability and to ensuring products meet the requirements of reliability and lower total cost of ownership. Toughbook® mobile computers have earned a variety of certifications to make sure they always meet tough U.S. Army standards.
MIL Standard 461E (MIL-STD-461E)
This standard establishes interface and associated verification requirements for the control of electromagnetic interference characteristics of electronic, electrical and electromechanical equipment and subsystems designed or procured for use by DoD activities and agencies.
MIL Standard 810F (MIL-STD-810F)
This series of standards issued by the U.S. Army’s Developmental Test Command specifies various environmental tests to prove that products can survive in the field. Such standards include a passing mark in the following testing areas: drop, vibration, shock, water resistance, altitude, high temperature, low temperature, temperature shock and humidity.
Military Standard 810F(MIL-STD-810F); Method 511.4
This standard evaluates the ability of products to operate in a fuel vapor environment without causing ignition. These tests are common for a variety of products, including motors, lighting systems, bilge pumps, quench tubes and aircraft components.
Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT)
EPEAT helps institutional purchasers in the public and private sectors evaluate, compare and select desktop computers, notebooks and monitors based on their environmental attributes. EPEAT provides a clear and consistent set of performance criteria for the design of products. It also offers an opportunity for manufacturers to secure market recognition for efforts to reduce the environmental impact of their products.
Toughbook laptops are rated Silver by EPEAT.
