Field Service Case Studies

Panasonic Toughbook® mobile computers bring innovative solutions to field service companies, leading to less downtime, increased productivity, and a higher ROI.

ArborMetrics Solutions, Inc. Case Study

ArborMetrics Solutions, Inc. is a nationwide vegetation-management company that enables utilities companies to provide safe, reliable electricity by clearing limbs, trees and brush from utility lines and more. ArborMetrics needed to equip its field crews with a mobile computing solution that would allow them to patrol their circuits, track themselves in unfamiliar areas and provide real-time client communications. However, due to the harsh environmental conditions in which they often operate, the mobile computers would need to withstand everything from humid wetlands to snowy mountains, as well as intense shock and vibration. Arbormetrics chose rugged, reliable Panasonic Toughbook computers, with integrated mobile broadband and GPS, as its mobile computing solution of choice. With this technology, ArborMetrics ensured that its crews could operate quickly and effectively and keep its customers satisfied. ArborMetrics Project Coordinator Scott J. Nelson said that Panasonic Toughbook is what makes the job possible "because it can survive the terrain. It can survive the conditions that I don't think any other computer could do."

Tennant Company Case Study

PDF Case Study: Tennant Company

Minneapolis-based Tennant Company is a recognized leader in the designing, manufacturing and marketing of commercial cleaning equipment and coatings. The company’s services division, which handles more than 200,000 calls per year, needed a mobile computing solution to replace its ineffecient paper-based system. Tennant required a mobile device that would allow technicians to send and receive up-to-date service information wirelessly and be rugged enough for field use. After evaluating several options, including PDA's and laptops from various vendors, Tennant chose to equip its field personnel with Panasonic Toughbook rugged laptops. The Toughbook solution helped Tennant automate 85 percent of orders and save approximately $600,000 on labor.

Brinks Case Study

Brinks Home Security is one of the largest and fastest growing security providers in America, serving over one million customers in over 250 metropolitan areas. Brinks needed to upgrade the small, outdated wireless devices used by its field service employees to a more durable and reliable product line. After extensive research, the company chose Panasonic Toughbook as the best mobile solution.

Steris Case Study

Steris Corporation, the industry leader in infection prevention, needed a mobile computer solution that would enable quick information exchanges, streamlined communications, and electronic signature capture - all within a corrosive work environment that could damage sensitive equipment. Rugged, powerful Toughbook mobile computers are built to perform even in the harshest conditions. When deployed to Steris technicians worldwide, Toughbook improved workflow efficiency through reliable, on-the-spot wireless communications. This helped increase productivity and the bottom line.

FARO Case Study

The FaroArm is a lightweight, portable measurement device that is durable and flexible enough to work anywhere, including extreme-temperature environments. It required a reliable computer “brain” that could withstand exposure to grime, dirt and severe temperatures. In a side-by-side test, the Panasonic Toughbook mobile computer outperformed other computer solutions and became an integral part of FARO’s total measuring solution.
