Extended Battery Warranty
What is the Panasonic Extended Battery Warranty program?
A program that provides for the replacement of the original Toughbook® battery, if necessary, after the expiration of the standard 1-year warranty.
Why would a customer purchase this option as opposed to buying new batteries if they are needed?
This plan assures a fixed cost to battery replacement over the life of the deployment rather than the potentially higher cost of buying multiple new batteries as needed.
Are there any options in the length of warranty coverage?
Yes. The Extended Battery Warranty program may be purchased in yearly increments up to four additional years for a total of as many as five years of coverage, including the original warranty period.
What is the process of determining if a battery is eligible for replacement?
The user calls the Panasonic hotline where a technician asks a short series of qualifying questions. If the battery capacity appears to be 50% or less of original capacity, the technician arranges to ship a replacement to the user at no expense.
Who ships the replacement battery?
Panasonic's National Service Center.
Extended Warranty
How long can warranty coverage be extended?
The Extended Warranty may be purchased for either one or two years beyond the standard 3-year limited warranty. That means the total coverage period can be four or five years depending on the plan selected.
Does the Panasonic Extended Warranty provide all the same benefits as the original standard 3-year limited warranty?
Yes, as with the standard warranty, consumable items are not included. Depending on the specific unit, consumable items include the battery, screen protection sheet and stylus. Shipping to and from Panasonic's National Service Center is included for all units covered by the Extended Warranty.
Where are Toughbook computers and batteries serviced during the extended warranty period?
All service, during both the standard and extended periods, is performed at Panasonic's National Service Center. The only exceptions are if the units are located outside the United States or if they are covered concurrently by the Panasonic On-Site Service program. Units covered by the On-Site Service program are repaired by Panasonic-approved local providers.
Protection Plus
What is Protection Plus?
It's a supplemental warranty covering accidental, physical damage to a Toughbook mobile computer, which is not covered by the standard or extended warranties.
What is the difference between the Panasonic standard 3-year limited warranty and Protection Plus?
The standard 3-year limited warranty provides coverage against defects in materials and/or workmanship. Protection Plus provides coverage against accidental physical damage, which is excluded under the standard warranty.
Does Protection Plus cover every potential situation regarding damage?
No. Protection Plus does not cover such situations as intentional abuse, fire, loss, theft, normal wear, cosmetic issues not affecting functionality, improper maintenance by a party other than an authorized Panasonic Service Provider or acts attributable to God.
What are the limits to coverage with Protection Plus?
The coverage is very generous, covering major and non-major components. The maximum benefit is one major component repair per unit, per year. Major components include: LCD, motherboard, keyboard or hard drive.
What happens if the Toughbook is accidentally damaged beyond repair?
Whenever possible, Panasonic will replace the destroyed unit with an identical unit. In the event this is not possible, Panasonic will provide the next closest unit that is equal or greater in value.
What is the maximum coverage period available for Protection Plus?
Protection Plus may be purchased to cover the Toughbook for up to five years from the date of original purchase.
