Dallas EMT Fire Department
The Dallas EMT Fire/Rescue team consists of 530 paramedics who answer more than 100,000 emergency calls per year. In a situation where saving time means saving lives, paramedics found themselves slowed down by having to fill out patient information forms in the ambulance and then entering the information into a computer back at the station. To overcome this challenge, the department installed an electronic patient care reporting system and deployed Panasonic Toughbook mobile computers to its Fire/Rescue team. This solution put a spectrum of medical data at the EMTs' fingertips, as well as accelerated the exchange of vital patient information, enabling paramedics to focus on the patient, not the paperwork.
