Built-in Live Viewfinder (1,166K-dot Equivalent)

Viewfinder concentration produces the best possible photos with the Live View Finder to help create impressive images with its 1,166K-dot equivalent resolution and approx. 100% colour reproduction*. By more faithfully reproducing the primary colours, it is able to display beautiful hues that are extremely close to nature.

UNWIRE YOUR CREATIVITY with Wi-Fi^®

The DMC-GM5 integrates Wi-Fi^® connectivity for a more flexible shooting experience and easier image sharing. By simply scanning the QR code displayed on the camera monitor with a smartphone / tablet, you can change the smartphone / tablet into a remote controller for the camera. The new T (Time) function is great for slow shutter shots for things like fireworks or nightscapes. Sharing images when browsing is also quicker thanks to a new direct uploading capability.

Uncompromisingly High Picture Quality

The DMC-GM5 boasts not just an outstandingly compact profile but, it is highly functional in performance for stunning picture quality. The large 16.0 Mpx Digital Live MOS Sensor achieves both high resolution and high sensitivity image recording with less noise. The Venus Engine features an advanced noise reduction system which helps produce clear, smooth images especially for nighttime scenery. The combination of the Live MOS Sensor and the Venus Engine achieves max. ISO 25,600.

Fast and Accurate AF

The Contrast AF system of DMC-GM5 excels in both speed and accuracy by exchanging digital signals between the camera and the lens at a maximum 240 fps. The DMC-GM5 also offers high-speed burst shooting at 5.8 fps in 16.0 Mpx resolution and a maximum 40 fps with an electronic shutter.

Low Light AF

Low Light AF makes it possible to focus on your subject more precisely in -4 EV low-light situations, which is as dark as a starry sky with no other light source.

Face / Eye Detection AF

In addition to the conventional Face Recognition AF, the DMC-GM5 incorporates Face / Eye Detection AF which automatically sets focus right on the face or eye.

Pinpoint AF

Pinpoint AF allows you to set magnification from 3x to 10x enlargement, in increments of 0.1x step. It assists, for example, in setting focus right on the pupil in an eye.

Focus Peaking

Focus Peaking function shows the peak of focus in MF and AF+MF mode. It is also available in remote photo / video shooting with a smartphone / tablet via Wi-Fi^®.

Eye Sensor AF

The image output between the LVF and the rear monitor is automatically switched by the eye sensor on the LVF. The same sensor also serves for the Eye Sensor AF, which automatically starts auto focusing by just looking into the LVF to prevent missed shooting opportunities.

Silent Mode

This mode switches the shutter from mechanical to electronic and turns all sounds off (AF, operation), while suppressing emission of AF assist lamp and flash with just a single setting for special shooting occasions.

Creative Video Mode

The P / A / S / M mode lets you enjoy expressive video recording by manually setting the aperture and shutter speed. You can also add different artistic effects to your videos by applying a Creative Control filter.

Snap Movie Mode

The DMC-GM5 also features a new video recording option called "Snap Movie Mode" where users can record video in designated short periods of time (2/4/6/8 sec) as they shoot "moving photos". Using Panasonic Image App on a Smartphone or tablet, users can combine the short clips, add a variety of interval fade effects and music, and share them online.

Time Lapse Shot

Leave the camera for stationary recording of subjects such as astronomical observation, flowers coming into bloom or scudding clouds. The series of consequent images can be combined in the camera to produce a time lapse video.

Stop Motion Animation

The Stop Motion Animation function enables the production of stop motion (stop frame) video on the camera with pictures that were sequentially shot while moving the object by degrees. This effect gives the illusion of the object moving by itself.

Live Viewfinder / Touch Panel Monitor

The DMC-GM5 features an LVF (Live View Finder) with 1,166K-dot equivalent resolution and approx. 100% colour reproduction. It assures stable framing and superb visibility even under strong sunlight. The adoption of the new 3-inch, approx. 921K-dot static-type touch monitor panel suppresses the reflection of external light, and enables higher visibility even for sunny outdoor shooting. Attenuation of transmitting backlight is minimized to achieve a wide angle of view and save power.

Ultra Compact Body

While inheriting the image quality and performance of conventional LUMIX G cameras, the DMC-GM5 features a well planned design, starting with the main circuit board and shutter mechanism, achieving superb compactness in a light weight design. Changes to the main circuit board provided space for the lens mount and the spring-type shutter mechanism, which was difficult to downsize, was replaced by a motor mechanism for further reduction in size and weight.

Hot Shoe / External Flash

A compact flash (GN10 ISO200・m / GN7 ISO100・m), which matches the design and size of the camera is bundled to be mounted on the hot shoe. For even more expandability, DMC-GM5 is compatible with with optional DMW-FL360L and FL580L flash for wireless control and LED video light functions.

Remote Shooting / Viewing

With the "Panasonic Image App", you can utilize a smartphone / tablet as controller to zoom*, set the focus and shoot from a distance.

Easy Share

You can instantly upload and share your images on social media using the "Panasonic Image App" on a smartphone / tablet. Sharing images while browsing on the camera is also quick due to a new direct uploading capability.

Instant Transfer

The Instant Transfer function allows the camera to transfer the photo data to a designated electronic device automatically whenever the shutter is released.

Geotagging

It is possible to tag the location information to the image by utilizing the GPS (Global Positioning System) log of a smartphone / tablet.

Creative Control Mode

The DMC-GM5 features a Creative Control mode with 22 filter effects. Now it is possible to apply one of these filters even in P/A/S/M mode.

Creative Panorama
