January 18, 2012, Osaka, Japan–Industrial Devices Company, Panasonic Corporation has succeeded in commercializing the “SAW device” suitable for miniaturization and integration of RF signal-processing circuits used in mobile devices, such as smart phones, tablet PCs, mobile phones, and has started mass-production. Newly developed SAW devices are the smallest and the thinnest in the industry (*1).

As smart phones and HDDs used in tablet PC, game machines have become larger memory as well as faster, power supplies to be used have been required to have larger capacity and faster transient-response when starting up from standby mode. To meet for these requests, the power supply circuits has been becoming faster switching frequency and larger current. Besides, with the increasing multi-layer of HDD-disks, power supply circuits have been required to be thinner. Accordingly, choke coils to be used in DC/DC converter circuits have been required to be thinner, smaller, as well as larger current, and lower loss. To meet the market demand, Industrial Devices Company, Panasonic Corporation has developed power choke coils featuring smallest, largest current, lowest loss with the lowest DC resistance in the industry, and will commence mass-production.

1. One body-structure using our original round-wire coils, thin terminals, metal-composite core, realizing the lowest profile and DC resistance value in the industry

DC resistance value : 80 mΩ(with 3.3 µH ) ... Top level in the industry (*1)
               Approx. from 10 to 20 % reduction compared with our current models (*3)

2. Our original metal-composite core structure, realizing large current and high frequency
