Cares...Shares...and Delivers to the Typhoon Victims
In the wake of the recent typhoons, Ketsana and Parma, that left Filipinos struggling to recover from the loss of both lives and properties, Panasonic Communications Philippines Corporation (PCP) launched another CSR program called "We Care...We Share...We Deliver: We are on the Go for the victims of the Typhoon".
A total of 2,400 eco-bags containing grocery items were distributed to the four severely devastated communities along the stretch of Calamba to Sta. Rosa, where PCP plants are located.
As an extension of support to the communities outside of the province of Laguna, PCP also delivered 320 sacks of rice to the Sagip Kapamilya Foundation, an organization dedicated to rebuilding lives of calamity victims founded by one of the country's leading television networks, ABS-CBN.
On top of these, employees pledged an additional 750 bags of toiletries, medicine and vitamin supplements for children.
Aimed at fostering the future leaders of Asia and promoting mutual understanding between their home countries and Japan, Panasonic has provided a total of 22 scholarships through the Panasonic Scholarship program to Filipino students since 2000. The program enables students to pursue master's courses in such fields as science, engineering, bio-technology and information technology at universities in Japan.
Panasonic Scholarship for Philippine Colleges and Universities
Panasonic initiated a scholarship program in 1993 to promote education and the development of less-privileged Filipino youth. Through the program, promising students are given scholarships covering tuition and allowance to complete a degree in engineering, agriculture, forestry, fisheries, marine science, biology, chemistry, physics, and information technology at designated state universities.
To celebrate 30 years of operation in the Philippines, Panasonic donated 1 million pesos (US$19,500) to the "Piso Para sa Pasig (A Peso for the Pasig)" Project aimed at rehabilitating the Pasig River, the most polluted river in the nation.
Support for Wheel-A-Thon
The company provided support for "Taytay Wheel-A-Thon," a wheelchair race for persons with disabilities held annually to promote equal opportunities for the disabled.
