Panasonic Participates in Green Life seminar
Panasonic Vietnam cooperated with Alpha Books to hold a seminar on "Green life" and introduce The Green Book at Foreign Trade University.
Purpose of the seminar was to discuss with students about green life for a sustainable development and introduce The Green Book - the everyday guide to saving the Planet one simple step at a time - sponsored by Panasonic.
At the seminar, Panasonic representative and others speakers shared their views about the environmental issues and situation, what should we do to protect environment.
Taking part in the seminar, students also watch short environmental films and took some quiz about the environmental knowledge and carbon footprint emitted.
Donation to victims of Ketsana Typhoon
On the October 16th 2009, the Trade Union Panasonic Vietnam(PV)
Donated 10 million Vietnam Dong to victims of Ketsana Typhoon.
This amount was contributed by PV employees and will be delivered to the victims through Vietnam Red Cross Association.
Ketsana Typhoon swept 14 provinces of Vietnam in two days.
163 people had died, 11 people are missing and 169 injuries.
Total damage estimated about VND14,000 billion, equivalent to USD778 million.
Vietnamese government appealed to international for aid of USD4.7 million.
As of October 16th they collected USD4.2 million
Aimed at fostering the future leaders of Asia and promoting mutual understanding between their home countries and Japan, Panasonic has provided scholarships through the Panasonic Scholarship program to two Vietnamese students each year since 2003. The program enables students to pursue master's courses in such fields as science, engineering, bio-technology and information technology at universities in Japan.
Helmets for Children
To promote road safety in Vietnam, Panasonic has teamed up with a local nonprofit organziation to donate helmets to children in primary schools. In a nation where motorbikes are the principal mode of transportation, the helmets are a step further in protecting children from injuries.
