Panasonic and the UNESCO World Heritage Centre have formed a partnership to promote and protect our invaluable heritage.
The World Heritage represents unique and timeless values for our world. Panasonic and the UNESCO World Heritage Centre have formed a partnership to promote and protect this invaluable heritage.
In the lead up to 2018, when we celebrate the 100th anniversary of our founding, calls for the integration of our environmental commitment and business activities with the environment will be positioned as the central value and inspiration for all our pursuits.
Through our issuance of the World Heritage Calendar in cooperation with the UNESCO World Heritage Centre every year since 1995, we have endeavored to communicate the importance of preserving our World Heritage. In May 2011, Panasonic and the UNESCO World Heritage Centre formed a strategic partnership with the aim of “promoting next-generation environmental education activities through a World Heritage education programme” and “raising and maintaining awareness for protecting World Heritage”.
In addition to global-scale communication activities and provision of 3D-related audio-visual equipment and technology support, Panasonic has undertaken a variety of environmental educational activities including the Eco Picture Diary Global Contest and World Heritage for Children since June 2011.
Through our renewal of the partnership contract for another two years, Panasonic and the UNESCO World Heritage Centre continue to contribute to preserving our environment through World Heritage and other activities to foster the growth of the next generation.
UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova noted, “This new partnership with Panasonic offers strong support for the achievement of our mission. It is a splendid example of teamwork that promotes both thought and action for the sustainable use of natural resources and the environment.”
