Question1. The printer cannot print at all. What should be done?
Answer1.

Confirm that the green light is ON first or the ON line button is lighted up. Check that printer cable is firmly secured. Finally, check that the correct driver is selected.

Question2. There is a black line when the fax receiver received the documents. How do I remove it?
Answer2.

Check that the scanner glass is clear from any stains. Clean the glass with moist cloth. Test it with photocopy function and make sure that the black line disappears.

Question5. The facsimile has no tone (Non XMT/RCV). Why?
Answer5.

Please check that the telephone line from your service provider is working by using a normal telephone to call out. If no dialing tone is available please check with your service provider.

Question6. What is Printer Error E31?

Heat lamp problem. Please send in for repair.

Question7. Why does the display blink during Standby mode?
Answer7.

The battery is completely discharged. This may happen at first installation. After setting the clock, the blinking will stop.

Question8. What happens if my document does not “feed” during transmission?
Answer8.

Check that your document is free of staples and paper clips, and that it is not greasy or torn.
Check that your document is the right type to send through an ADF. To do this, please consult the list on “Documents You Cannot Send” from your operating manual. If your document has the characteristics listed, make a photocopy of your document and send the copy instead.
Check that the document is loaded properly.
Adjust the ADF pressure.

Question9. What should I do if there are vertical lines on the transmitted document?

Check your copy quality. If copy is ok, your machine has no problem. In which case, you might want to report to the receiving party that the fault lies in their facsimile. If your copy is not good, clean the Scanning Area.

Question10. What should I do if the recording paper does not eject after printing?

Print out a Journal report (e.g. FUNCTION, 6, 1, SET and 1) and check quality to make sure whether your machine has trouble. If Journal report quality is ok, your machine has no problem. You might want to report to the sending party that their machine may have a fault. If your copy is not good, replace the Toner Cartridge.

Question12. What should I do if the print is fuzzy?

Make sure you are using the correct paper for the best possible print quality.
Try reversing the recording paper to the other side.

Question13. Why is there missing dots or lines / inconsistent darkness within print?
Answer13.

Your toner cartridge may be running out of toner. However, before you change the toner cartridge, make sure you are using the correct paper for the best possible print quality.

Question14. Why does the print seem to have a fading effect?
Answer14.

Your toner cartridge may be running out of toner. Replace the toner cartridge.

Question15. Why is the print faint?
Answer15.

You may need to choose a different paper for the best possible print quality.

Question16. What should I do if there is no dial tone?
Answer16.

Check the connection of the telephone line.

Question17. Why is there no auto answer?
Answer17.

Check the connection of the telephone line.
Check the Reception mode setting.
If the Fax Parameter No. 13 (AUTO JOURNAL PRINT) is set to “valid” (default setting) and the machine is printing the received document(s) from memory, the machine will not auto answer until the Transaction Journal completes printing.
