Chocolate Porridge with Fruit Garnish

Warm porridge is a great way to start the morning. With some cocoa and a sweet fruit decoration, this makes a delicious and healthy breakfast for children that even picky eaters will enjoy! Even better, this is made in the microwave, making it perfect for those fast mornings on the go.

  • 0.5vanilla pod
  • 150 goatmeal
  • 2 tbsphoney
  • 1 tbspcocoa powder (Substitute: 2 tbsp coconut flakes)
  • 300 mlmilk (3.5% fat)
  • 1banana
  • 3strawberries
  • 12blueberries
  • 1 tbspcocoa nibs

Steps

STEP 1

Halve the vanilla pod lengthwise and scrape the pith out with a knife.

STEP 2

Mix oatmeal, honey, vanilla, cocoa powder and milk in a bowl.

Tip: Instead of the cocoa powder, you could fold in 2 tbsp coconut flakes.

STEP 3

Cook for about 1 minute at 1000 watts in the microwave. Stir once and continue cooking for another minute.

STEP 4

Meanwhile, peel and slice the banana. Wash the strawberries, pat dry and remove the green. Halve 2 strawberries and quarter the third. Wash and pat dry the blueberries.

STEP 5

Stir the finished porridge and divide into two small bowls. Decorate with fruits and cocoa nibs before serving.
