Naturally Sweetened Ketchup

A smooth, naturally sweetened tomato sauce made with passata, garlic and onion powders, and a splash of Worcestershire. Perfect for dipping, spreading, or spooning onto your favourites.

Ingredients

500 ml passata
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar (optional)
2 Soft medjool dates
Salt and pepper to taste

Steps

STEP 1

Add the passata, garlic powder, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar (if using), dates, salt, and pepper to the jug of the Panasonic Quiet Cooking Blender (MX-HG4401).

STEP 2

Turn the knob to Manual mode. Set the temperature to 90°C, blending speed to Low, and time to 15 minutes (00:15). Press Start.

STEP 3

Once cooked, taste for seasoning and sweetness. If desired add another date (or two) to achieve the desired sweetness and repeat the cooking process. Turn the knob to Manual mode. Set the temperature to 90°C, blending speed to Low, and time to 15 minutes (00:15). Press Start.

STEP 4

Let cool slightly, then pour into jars or bottles. Store in the fridge for up to 1 week.
