Green Procurement
Expand environmental activities with our suppliers
On Mar. 10, 1999, the Panasonic Group has first issued "Green Procurement Standards" which states the Group's preference to procure from suppliers who are proactive in reducing their environmental impacts.
In 2010, we have set out our "Green Plan 2018", which is our environmental action plan that outlines initiatives for all employees. In collaboration with various stakeholders including suppliers and logistics partners (hereinafter referred to as "partners") who are closely linked to its business activities, the Group is accelerating initiatives to address global environmental issues across the boundaries of the Group, including CO2 emissions reduction, resource recycling, water and biodiversity conservation, and mitigation of the effect of chemical substances on human beings and environment.
Under the banner of its long-term environmental vision, Panasonic GREEN IMPACT, the Panasonic Group hopes to contribute to both the well-being of people and society as well as a sustainable global environment. It is engaged in various activities towards reducing CO2 emissions from its own operations to virtually net-zero by 2030 and to contribute to a total of 300 million tons (Mt)*1 or more in avoided emissions by 2050, about 1%*2 of the current total global emissions of 33 billion tons.

The Panasonic Group understands its responsibility in working towards solving the urgent issue of climate change collectively. Through the accumulation of our efforts ("ACTs"), we will work alongside society to achieve carbon neutrality by expanding the impact of our contributions to CO2 emission reductions.
By promoting eco-conscious procurement based on these Green Procurement Standards, we hope to contribute to the protection of the global environment with our suppliers. We would like to request our suppliers to continue to support and cooperate with our Green Procurement initiatives. (October 2022)

Requests for Reducing Environmental Impact
Setting up Environmental Management System
We request suppliers to set up, maintain and improve environmental management system based on the acquisition of ISO 14001 certification.
Ensuring comprehensive chemical substance management
We request suppliers to follow the latest version of "Chemical Substances Management Rank Guidelines (For Products)", submit the latest version of Chemical Substance Non-use Warranty for Pertaining to Products, prepared by applicable business unit of our company, input data to our product chemical substance management system, undergo supplier environmental quality assurance system audits, and take other necessary actions.
Chemical Substances Management Rank Guidelines
In March 1999, we published "Chemical Substances Management Rank Guidelines" to effectively control the use of chemical substances in products and manufacturing processes in consideration of the safety.
In response to tightening of regulations governing the levels of chemical substances in products, we separated "Chemical Substances Management Rank Guidelines "into "For Products" and "For Factories" versions in November 2004.
In "Green Procurement Standards", we request suppliers to comply with "Chemical Substances Management Rank Guidelines (For Products)".
Chemical Substances Management Rank Guidelines (For Products) Ver. 14 (issuance: March 1, 2023, enforcement: April 1, 2023)
The purpose of "Chemical Substances Management Rank Guidelines (For Products)" is to make clear and familiarize our internal section and suppliers with chemical substances (environmentally-impacting substances) that are prohibited or need to control and to improve the environmental quality of our products if contained in raw materials, components, etc., that constitute our products we produce and sell.
Chemical substances categorize as "Prohibited Substances" and" Managed Substances" in "Chemical Substances Management Rank Guidelines (For Products)" are equivalent to chemSHERPA Declarable Substances.

Chemical Substances Management Rank Guidelines (For Factories) (Updated: April 8, 2024)
"Chemical Substances Management Rank Guidelines (For Factories)" provides guidelines for promoting initiatives to prohibit or reduce the use, release or transfer of chemical substances about whose environmental impact there are concerns, but are used in factories while performing production activities. We ask suppliers to recommend us auxiliary materials (chemicals, solvents, gases, etc.) that are not subject to our prohibition or reduction policy.

Product Chemical Substance Management System
We started to use our product chemical substance management system in 2004, and suppliers have been inputting data on chemical substance contents in materials (raw materials, components and products we purchase from suppliers) that they deliver to us via system.
We request suppliers to input data into this system.
User registration is required to use this system. Be sure to contact one of our business unit with which you have transactions when you apply to use the system.
Reducing of GHG Emissions
We preferentially adopt materials that help to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
We request suppliers to provide us with materials that effectively reduce GHG emissions.
Promotion of Resource Recycling
We preferentially adopt materials contribute to recycling-oriented manufacturing, which we have been promoting to ensure efficient resource use.
We request suppliers to provide us with materials that can be used for recycling-oriented manufacturing.
Promotion of Water Recycling
We preferentially adopt materials that contribute water recycling, which we have been promoting.
We request suppliers to provide us with materials that contribute water recycling.
Conservation of Biodiversity
We preferentially adopt materials that contribute conservation of biodiversity.
We request suppliers to provide us with materials that contribute conservation of biodiversity.
We formulated "Green Procurement Guidelines for Wood" to conserve biodiversity and sustainable resource usage after thorough consultations with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Japan, and started to apply it in February 2010.
We clearly defined wood and wooden materials to be procured into three categories of Priority procurement (Category 1), Acceptable procurement (Category 2) and avoiding procurement (Category 3) from environmental and social perspectives and thereby promoting Green Procurement.

We promote activities that reduce both environmental impact and cost rationalization (ECO Value Creation Activities) of materials we procure. We request suppliers to collaborate with us.
