Product Security

Product Security

Various products use software to connect to networks for the convenience of the user. This makes it necessary to ensure the security of our products to prevent leaks and data tampering, and to defend against malicious third-parties attempting to make the product malfunction.
At Panasonic, we ensure the security of our products by streamlining our internal structure and rules, and by regularly reviewing these so that customers can safely use our products.

Collection and Distribution of Information and Education of Employees

Product security issues and their solutions change daily. Panasonic is a member of various security focused organizations and attends various global conferences to stay up to date on product-security topics and trends. This information is shared with relevant divisions and is incorporated into training materials to raise awareness about product security throughout the entire organization.

Promoting Product Security in Development

During the development phase of a product, risks against high value assets and functions are assessed, and products are developed while minimizing these risks. Then, security of the product is tested by security experts prior to shipment to ensure that they do not contain any “security vulnerabilities,” either from a hardware or software standpoint.

Post-shipment Response

When information on a product security issue (vulnerability information, etc.) is obtained, the information will be verified in cooperation with the relevant division. If a product security issue is confirmed, updates and patches to resolve the issue are issued, and mechanisms will be put in place to prevent reoccurrence.
