Initiatives for SDGs

SDGs, which stands for “Sustainable Development Goals”, was adopted at the United Nations Summit in September 2015 as a common goal of the international community aiming for a sustainable and better world.

Based on the management philosophy since its founding, Panasonic will continue to contribute to the achievement of the SDGs through its wide range of corporate activities including collaborations and co-creation with various stakeholders, specifically on business activities that provide products and services that contribute to customers.

Illustration: Using Panasonic’s management philosophy, “Contributing to society through business activities as a public entity” and brand slogan, “A Better Life, A Better World”, we will continue to contribute to the achievement of the SDGs through a wide range of corporate activities while promoting collaborations and co-creation with stakeholders. We list the following three examples as our major corporate activities. The one with the largest proportion is, “1. Providing value through business activities ”. The other two are, “2. Responsible business conduct” and “3. Social contributions by the company and employees ”. In the first activity, we will utilize our technologies and knowledge and continue to provide innovative products, services and solutions that will contribute to people’s lives, society and the sustainability of the global environment.  In the second activity, we will support business activities and fulfill our corporate social responsibility (CSR) in the process of creating value. In the third activity, We will provide a social impact through corporate citizenship activities toward the realization of an “inclusive society” where everyone can live an active life. Also, the following are the 17 SDGs that Panasonic contributes to. Sustainable Development Goals. Goal 1: No Poverty, Goal 2: Zero Hunger, Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being, Goal 4: Quality Education, Goal 5: Gender Equality, Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation, Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, Goal 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities, Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, Goal 13: Climate Action, Goal 14: Life below Water, Goal 15: Life on Land, Goal 16: Peace, justice and strong institutions, Goal 17: Partnerships for The Goals. These development goals will continue to be in agreement worldwide as we proceed toward 2030.
