  • 1 kgBeef, cut into 1.5 inch cubes
  • 40 gKerutuk spice
  • 1 tspSalt
  • 2 pcsTamarind slice
  • 2 tbspTomato paste
  • 100 gPalm sugar (Nourishing Kerutuk-Spiced Beef gula Melaka)
  • 2 cupsLow fat coconut milk
  • 0.5 cupWater
  • 2 tbspKerisik
  • Salt to taste

For blending

  • 150 gRed onion
  • 20 gGarlic
  • 10 gGinger
  • 2 tbspCooking oil

For sauté

  • 1Cinnamon stick
  • 2 nosStar anise
  • 8 nosCloves
  • 6 nosCardamom pods
  • 3 tbspCooking oil
  • 4 tbspChili paste

Steps

1) Marinate the beef with kerutuk spices and salt, then set it aside. It’s best left overnight.

2) Use the Panasonic Grinder, blend all the ingredients into a fine paste. Set aside.

3) Use the Panasonic Built-in IH Cooker. Select the stir-fry function and heat the oil. Sauté the dry ingredients until fragrant. Add the chili paste and blended spice paste, and cook until the oil rises to the top. Add the beef and stir well.

4) Transfer the beef mixture to the Panasonic Pressure Cooker. Add the remaining ingredients, except the kerisik, and mix well. Select MEAT -> TIMING -> 25 minutes -> START.

5) Once cooking is complete, wait until the pressure indicator pin drops, or press the button to release the pressure safely. Press Off, open the outer lid, and stir in the kerisik. Mix well and season to taste. Ready to serve.
