No Ramadhan is complete without a delicious helping of Kuih Cara Berlauk! Filled with spicy chicken and prawn meat, these delectable kuih make the perfect treats for breakfast, tea time or iftar meals!

Ingredients

Servings:5

Batter

  • 1 cupplain flour
  • 1/8 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tspbutter
  • 1egg
  • 1¾ cup water

Filling

  • 4shallots, chopped
  • 2garlic, chopped
  • 100 gminced chicken
  • 5prawns, deveined and chopped
  • 1½ tsp meat curry powder
  • 1/4 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tspsweet soy sauce
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tbspcooking oil
  • Garnish
  • Spring onions, chopped
  • Red chilli, thinly sliced

Method

STEP 1

In a bowl, mix all the batter ingredients together. Whisk well to combine.

STEP 2

Strain the ingredients to get rid of any unwanted lumps.

STEP 3

To prepare the filling, heat up oil in a frying pan.

STEP 4

Sauté chopped shallots and garlic until fragrant.

STEP 5

Stir in minced chicken and fry until the chicken is cooked.

STEP 6

Add in meat curry powder, red chili powder and sweet soy sauce followed by salt. Stir well.

STEP 7

Mix in the prawns and fry until cooked.

STEP 8

Grease the mould with some oil.

STEP 9

Place mould into Panasonic Cubie Oven and preheat oven to 180C on convection mode.

STEP 10

Remove mould and pour in the batter until 3/4 full.

STEP 11

Spoon 1 tbsp of filling onto each kuih.

STEP 12

Return mould to the oven and bake for another 20 minutes.

STEP 13

Garnish with chopped spring onions and sliced red chilies.
