The Kid Witness News (KWN) program, a global initiative dedicated to nurturing young talent in video production and storytelling, hosted its annual Awards Ceremony on 27 August 2026 at the Panasonic Home.2.Com Solution Centre, The Vertical Podium, Bangsar South, Kuala Lumpur, celebrating the creativity, innovation and social awareness of young filmmakers from across Malaysia.
This year’s theme challenged participants to select one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and produce a compelling video that raises awareness, inspires action, or showcases solutions to address environmental and social challenges. Through this initiative, KWN continues to encourage global citizenship and empower youth to become positive changemakers in their communities.
A total of 31 videos were submitted this year by students from various primary and secondary schools nationwide. The participating students demonstrated exceptional creativity, storytelling skills and commitment to sustainability through their video productions.
Prior to the competition, participants attended a comprehensive workshop designed to enhance their video production capabilities, covering key areas such as storyboarding, filming techniques, editing, and effective message delivery. The workshop equipped students with the skills and knowledge necessary to produce impactful SDG-themed videos.
The Awards Ceremony recognized outstanding submissions from both the Primary School and Secondary School categories. Winning teams were selected based on creativity, technical excellence, relevance to the chosen SDG, and the effectiveness of their message in inspiring positive action.
The champions from both categories will proudly represent Malaysia at the upcoming Global Kid Witness News Competition, where they will compete with young filmmakers from around the world and showcase their vision for a more sustainable future.
Panasonic extends its sincere appreciation to all participating students, teachers, parents, and judges for their invaluable support and contribution to the success of the program. Through Kid Witness News, Panasonic remains committed to inspiring the next generation to use their creativity and voices to make a position impact on society.
