A Guide to Stain Removal

A Guide to Stain Removal

Your clothes are exposed to different types of stains in daily life, such stains from food, drinks, cosmetics, and other things. Here are some tips to remove stains easily according to the nature of the stains so that you can enjoy your favorite clothes for a long time.

First Aid Before Putting into Laundry

Pinch and absorb the stain with dry tissue paper as soon as the clothes become stained. Don’t use wet cloth as that would spread the stain.

First, check the label of the item to see if it is washable at home and how you can wash it. Delicate fabrics such as silk, rayon, and wool, as well as some other materials require special care and are not machine washable. If you are unsure, take it to a professional laundry service.

How to Remove Stains from Coffee, Wine and Other Drinks

Normal washing can’t remove these stains as the coloring agents remain in the fibres. First, apply oxygen* bleach and leave it for around 10 minutes.

*Chlorine bleach is not suitable for coloured fabrics.

How to Remove Stains from Food and Cosmetics

First, rub cleansing oil into the stain and rinse it off with warm shower water as these stains contain oil, which is not water-soluble, and usual washing does not remove them.

*Food stains do not require this process.

Rub dishwashing detergent into the stain and rinse with warm shower water. If the stain is caused by oil, the cleansing oil alone can remove the stain, but the cleansing oil itself may also cause a stain. So, it’s often more effective to use dishwashing detergent.
