● What is your favorite part about your job?
I am Product Manager for Home Entertainment Audio and Video products at Panasonic Germany. What I really like about my job is that being responsible for a certain product group is like actually managing a small business entity by yourself. The tasks and responsibilities are extremely diversified and it’s like acting as the interface for many other departments such as Sales, Communications, Logistics, Finance or Service on a local level, but also Marketing and Product Planning on a global scale. No one day is like the other and it’s very challenging. I also enjoy working in a big multi-national company, where you get to meet people from many different cultural backgrounds.
● What advice would you give to someone applying to a job in your department?
If you aim to work in product management at Panasonic, you definitely need to have a certain affinity with numbers and good analytical skills. You should be willing to take initiative, be passionate and knowledgeable about your product category and think as an entrepreneur. If, in addition you are smart, humble and a good team player, then you should apply!
● Describe the career growth path you've taken at Panasonic
I joined Panasonic in August 2008 as Junior Product Manager for Cordless Phones and Fax Devices. After about one year of work experience, I was nominated for the “Talent for Tomorrow” (TFT) Program, which I then started in 2010. TFT is a two year program, which runs in parallel with your regular job and includes very enriching courses and training , projects and work experience in another Panasonic entity for a couple of weeks or months. It’s dedicated to young professionals below management level, who seek personal development and career opportunities
In 2011, I became Product Manager and joined Home Audio and Video category.
Two years later my son was born and I took one year break. In 2014, I came back to my former position. I am very happy to have a job that fulfills me, but being able to work part-time and benefit from flexible working hours.

● What are some of the challenges you enjoy most?
Working at Panasonic is very, very, fast paced. Not only the technology moves at lightning speed with most product ranges changing once or twice a year, but the discipline of communications which I am involved with concurrently moves as fast. Those 2 factors combined, plus the fact that we are also entering new markets all the time, ensure that you are constantly pushed to learn more, adapt and provoke change in the organisation. It also ensures that no one day is the same, nothing repeats and everything always regenerates giving the most daring & ambitious the chance to propose new ways of working, innovate and make a difference.
● Describe Panasonic in just one word
FAST-PACED!
● What makes Panasonic a great place to work?
As a global player with a Japanese heritage, Panasonic provides a multi-cultural, diverse and very open-minded working environment which I especially and thoroughly enjoy. In my team alone, we have 5 different nationalities represented. Panasonic also fundamentally is a company with very strong values which have been defined by our founder Konosuke Matsushita 100 years ago and remarkably are still very relevant. Those values are engraved in the company's culture and genuinely guide our daily actions. Having such a framework allows for a clear understanding of our overall mission to contribute to society and delivers a positive working environment aligned with my personal values. So if you feel that those values are close to your heart, you will surely feel at home here too.
● What's one interesting fact about Panasonic that people might not know?
Did you know that Panasonic is providing the technology to enable live broadcast and high speed wi-fi in aircrafts? I find this amazing!

● What is your favorite part about your job?
Meeting new people, working with new products and new business.
There are opportunities to work with many different types of business in a variety of different business locations. In my case, I have had challenging and interesting opportunities at Wien, Copenhagen, Istanbul and Wiesbaden and seven different locations within Japan. Not only locations, I could also meet with people from many different business fields, such as marketing of consumer electronics, B2B joint venture of healthcare solutions, management of sales company and procurement, etc.
● What is a typical day like for you at Panasonic?
Be fresh each morning.
I arrive at the office a little earlier than my colleagues to enjoy quiet working minutes for a while.
I fulfil my role and missions throughout the day and try to minimize pending items even though it can never be zero. I keep thinking what can be changed or improved to ensure betterment in tomorrow/future ...then, sometimes, I will refresh myself after work by chats with family & friends, mostly with a few glasses of wine.
● Why did you choose Panasonic?
During my private trip to Australia & China during my college years, I realized "how small my home country (=Japan) is and how interesting it is to communicate with people from different nations!"
