Measuring just approx. 40.9mm and weighing approx. 144g, this lens is sized to match the DC-S9, compact enough to stay mounted and go straight into your bag. Its profile aligns with that of the collapsed S-R1840 zoom lens, and the 62mm filter size stays consistent across both. Choose the zoom when you want flexible framing, and switch to a fixed focal length lens when you want more intentional creative control. Together, they create an agile full-frame system that expands your freedom to shoot.

Dust, splash and freeze-resistant design

Because this is a lens you will want to carry with you every day, it is designed to keep shooting in unpredictable environments. Its dust- and splash-resistant construction helps you capture fleeting moments, while allowing you to shoot in temperatures as low as -10°C. The fluorine coating applied to the front lens makes it easy to remove oil-based dirt that sticks to it.

The optimized configuration has 7 elements in 6 groups, including 3 ASPH lenses to effectively suppress spherical aberration and ensure superb resolution, despite its compact, lightweight design.

Customizable Focus Ring

The focus ring can also be used as a control ring, allowing you to assign key functions such as Crop Zoom* for zoom-like control even with a fixed focal length lens.

*Compatible with the DC-S1M2/S1M2ES/S1RM2/S5M2/S5M2X/S9 (As of April 2026). Applicable firmware versions: S1RM2 Ver.1.2 or later, S5M2 Ver.3.4 or later, S5M2X Ver.2.4 or later, S9 Ver.1.6 or later.

Focus Button (Fn Button)

The focus button on the lens barrel lets you lock focus while it is pressed. It can also be assigned as an Fn button to your preferred function, enabling comfortable operation that matches your shooting style.

Direction of Ring Rotation

You can change the rotation direction of the focus ring to match your preferred operating style.*

*Compatible with the DC-S1RM2, DC-S1M2 and DC-S1M2ES. Please update the DC-S1RM2 to firmware version 1.2.

Non-Linear Mode

The focus ring supports both linear and non-linear modes. In non-linear mode, the amount of focus shift varies depending on how fast you turn the ring, allowing for quick and flexible adjustments.

Linear Mode

In linear mode, focus shifts at a consistent, user-defined rate, providing precise, mechanical-feel control that is especially useful for reliable and accurate focusing during video shooting.

Other features

An inner focusing system driven by a stepping motor delivers fast, precise, and quiet autofocus. With AF control at up to 240 fps when working with the camera body, it enables fast focusing and smoothly tracks moving subjects across a wide range of photo and video shooting situations.

Advanced optical design and an optimized internal barrel structure effectively suppress focus breathing. In high-contrast scenes, micro-step aperture control enables smooth F-stop transitions, preventing sudden exposure changes.

Consideration for the environment and green initiatives

LUMIX is taking steps to become more eco-conscious. We have reduced the number of packaging components by 33%, and the use of plastic materials by 85% compared to the previous model. Furthermore, to reduce environmental impact, we have adopted corrugated cardboard cushioning materials in our packaging.
