Panasonic Vietnam's Announcement of the Evolution of CSR activities related to Panasonic Risupia Vietnam

Dear our Valued stakeholders - Schools, Teachers, Students and Parents!

Dear our Valued Partners, Customers and all those who have been supporting and accompanying Panasonic Vietnam in our CSR activities!

First of all, we would like to express our deep gratitude for your enthusiastic support over the years, which has enabled us to contribute our best to the sustainable development and prosperity of Vietnam through our business and corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities.

Thank you very much for your deep and long patronage to Panasonic Risupia Vietnam and it’s educational social activities.

Today we would like to announce changes and rebirth of our CSR activities through Risupia by shifting from Facility-base to Online and On-site base activities starting from 1st April 2022, at the special occasion of our first year toward next 50 years’ journey to realize our Wellness Vision. With the new direction and approach, we shall introduce new CSR activities to realize Wellness and Sustainable development in Vietnam in the next 50 years, focusing on the fields of education, environment and health, with 3 new main programs: “Panasonic for Sustainable School”, "Panasonic for Sustainable Community" and "Panasonic Sustainable Ambassador ". Instead, we shall terminate Risupia Vietnam facility in Hanoi from March 2022 to switch over.

Panasonic sets Human as a core competence and most valuable assets all the time, which is aligned with Vietnamese Government’s direction, and it was the reason for our investment in Panasonic Risupia Vietnam – the Mathematics and Science Museum as well.

Our main mission throughout 11 years of Panasonic Risupia Vietnam has been consistent as creating a beneficial playground for Vietnamese students of all ages, stimulating their passion for science and technology. During this exciting journey, our efforts have been recognized by Vietnamese society, with nearly 900,000 visitors received, including about 600,000 students, organized seminars for almost 2,000 teachers in Hanoi and neighboring provinces. Besides, in 2018 we were very honoured to receive the Certificate of Merit from the Minister of Education and Training for Panasonic Risupia Vietnam and the Medal "For the cause of education" to the Director of Panasonic Risupia Vietnam, representative of Panasonic Corporation.

Eventhough Risupia has been truly delivering its mission, exceeding planned targets and timeframe, it has, however, faced with some limits in terms of time and place due to its facility based operation. Particularly, we understand there are many students in other parts of Vietnam who can not visit Risupia due to geographical distance, and in recent 2 years, due to pandemic situation, we also could not physically welcome many schools to learn and play at Risupia.

On this basis, we strongly realize the need to innovate our CSR activities to better meet the demand of Vietnamese society and maximize benefits they can bring about. That is the main reason why we have decided to shift our resouces to On-line and On-site contribution, which enables us to increase the flexibility and initiatives of our contribution while extending our programs and activities to nationwide schools, reaching out to more students. We also can conduct our activities at local schools, local communities on certain frequency and basis.

Our new CSR programs particularly shall keep in line with our Corporate Environment Vision, which was announced by Panasonic Corporation since 2017. On top of that, Panasonic most recently announced the commitment as “Panasonic Green Impact” aiming to reduce the CO2 emissions of all operating companies to net zero by 2030, while strengthening our efforts in this area towards 2050, aiming to accelerate the society’s transition to clean energy, which will also accelerate the reduction of CO2 from our own value chain. We are very glad that our direction and activities are completely matching with the direction of the Vietnamese government, especially, the recent declaration of Vietnam Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference – COP26 - where Vietnam has committed to the target of net CO2 emisssion by 2050. In addition, we introduce a new total approach by focusing on Vietnamese society’s need instead of bringing “designed from Japan” programs.

In education, "Panasonic for Sustainable School" program will inherit the experience and success from Panasonic Risupia Vietnam. Through this program, we aim to provide hands-on and practical experience for students at local schools in applying STEAM methodology, based on the direction set out by Ministry of Education and Training and the textbooks of primary students in Vietnam. Furthermore, it also integrates with content on environment and sustainable development to help students understand the new global context and concerns, therefore, being able to act on them in the future.

With our ever strong commitment for the next 50 years in Vietnam, we look forward to Your continued support and cooperation to make our future programs and activities another success to realize the wellness and sustainable development of Vietnam!

Once again, thank you so much for your support!

Yours sincerely,
