Panasonic announces the new Z90A and Z85A OLED with Panasonic Premium TV and Fire TV built in

Today, Panasonic announces two new OLED TVs for 2024, the Z90A (available in 42”, 48”, 55” and 65”) and the Z85A (available in 55” and 65”). 

These televisions combine the best quality features: Panasonic’s renowned picture and sound quality combined with an extensive range of apps —including streaming services, music and more— all rolled into an easy to use, personalised, content forward user interface. These Panasonic Premium TVs come with built in Fire TV experience and other premium features such as advanced gaming capabilities, including ultra-low latency, True Game Mode, and Game Control Board. Additional usability features include Penta Tuner, channel sorting, and a My App Button in the remote control for easy access to favourite applications.

As such, both of these Panasonic Premium TVs provide customers with an elevated way to enjoy and discover entertainment. With the Fire TV experience built in, customers will benefit of a personalised streaming experience and access to Alexa.

When it comes to picture quality, both models are a cut above the rest, offering 4K Ultra HD for crystal clear, bright images no matter the environment. While Theater Surround Pro¹ and Dynamic Theater Surround Pro² elevate sound, transporting you from your sofa into the centre of the action for the ultimate immersive experience.

Gaming is also at the heart of the design, as Panasonic’s new OLED TVs are some of the world’s first to deliver a 144Hz refresh rate³ for fast, responsive, levelled up and vivid gameplay.

Elevate your experience with Panasonic Premium TV’s

With the huge numbers of streaming services, apps, and live TV options we now have access to, choosing what you want to watch can often be an overwhelming task. But thanks to the built in Fire TV experience, the Z90A and Z85A make choosing content easier and more enjoyable. 

Panasonic’s new TVs will enhance how you discover and enjoy content, seamlessly integrating your favourite streaming and live TV channels, apps, and tailored recommendations on one main home screen so you can quickly find what you love without the endless scrolling.

Panasonic TVs transform into dynamic displays when content is not streaming with the Fire TV Ambient Experience. The Ambient Experience turns the biggest screen in your home into a beautiful, always-on smart display rotating through beautiful art, personal photos, and glanceable information like calendars and reminders through customisable Alexa widgets.

Far-field voice control with Alexa is also available on Panasonic smart TVs for the first time⁴, so with the Z90A you can use your voice to easily launch apps, play music, search for titles, and control your smart home and more – all from across the living room without reaching for the remote.

These OLED TVs are not just entertainment devices, but also hubs for smart home management. With Alexa built in, they feature a smart home dashboard, enabling users to conveniently monitor and control their connected home system.

Feel free: easy usability

Panasonic has implemented many of the best features from its proprietary OS, such as Penta Tuner for advanced broadcast reception. In addition to satellite, cable and antenna, the Penta Tuner supports reception via the Internet (IPTV) and home network (TV>IP) meaning TVs can be located independently of an antenna socket and programmes enjoyed in every room without the need for an extra TV connection.⁵

Meanwhile, both the Z90A and Z85A come with a full remote control, including the unique Panasonic MyApp button, which can be programmed to directly open a favourite app, channel, or even a favourite voice control command.

While HbbTV Operator App makes access to live and on-demand content possible without the need for hardware or smartcards, USB Recording makes for convenient viewing, and Auto tuner detection and advanced Channel Editor deliver an easy setup experience.

Bring the cinema home: Exceptional picture quality

For truly authentic cinema, both models have FILMMAKER MODETM with new unique Panasonic-only Intelligent Sensing that ensures that viewers can enjoy their content exactly as the artist intended. 

Developed by the UHD Alliance, together with Hollywood directors, FILMMAKER MODE ensures accurate picture reproduction in any lighting conditions; for example, by lowering the temperature in response to warmly lit conditions or brightening the dark tones in extremely bright environments.

Intelligent Sensing takes this a step further, optimising the picture quality for bright living rooms too. This feature can be accessed via the dedicated ‘Picture Mode’ button on your remote.

The new Z90A and Z85A OLED TVs also feature a brand-new chipset, the HCX Pro AI Processor MK II. A high-performance processor packed with Japanese technology, it enables the TVs to offer the best in colour, contrast, and clarity for amazing viewing experiences. By utilising AI technology, the TV also knows when you’re watching sport, and adjusts the picture and sound automatically for you.

The Z90A benefits from the new Master OLED Pro⁶ panel. Working alongside the new HCX Pro AI Processor MK II, it offers improved picture quality through higher contrasts, better brightness, and improved colour volume. Meanwhile the Z85A offers the silky blacks and vivid colour needed to give HDR content the breath-taking intensity that can only come from an exquisitely crafted OLED panel. 

Both sets also support Dolby Vision IQ® with Precision Detail — a new offering on Panasonic TVs. Dolby Vision IQ with Precision Detail works by unlocking even more from Dolby Vision content, revealing incredibly crisp images with a greater sense of depth and added texture. 

And with Dynamic Theater Surround Pro⁷ with front firing speakers and Theater Surround Pro⁸ supported by Dolby Atmos® they also deliver immersive sound for the complete entertainment experience.

Take gaming to the next level: Game Mode Extreme

The Z90A follows in the footsteps of Panasonic’s new 2024 flagship models and is part of an elite group — the world's first OLED TVs to deliver a 144Hz refresh rate. Meanwhile, the Z85A features a 120hz Refresh Rate. 

At the heart of the gaming innovation in the new OLED models is the new HCX Pro AI Processor MK II, acclaimed for rendering vivid, seamless, and crystal-clear imagery.

Thanks to this new processor, both sets also benefit from improved Game Mode Extreme, which equips the TVs with cutting-edge gaming functionalities, making them ready for the latest consoles and PCs. And more frames per second are achieved in the Z90A thanks to the inclusion of HDMI 2.1 High Frame Rate and VRR up to 144Hz that mean faster, smoother gameplay. 

Gaming in Dolby Vision is also now compatible with frame rates up to 144Hz, taking gaming to the next level through incredible brightness, colour, contrast, and detail. And with ultra-low input lag, every controller action is instantly reflected on the screen, giving players a competitive edge against their opponents — a feature crucial for fast-paced games.

The new OLED TVs also support True Game Mode, a picture pre-set specifically tailored to enhance colour accuracy, including optimal white balance and grayscale settings. The result is a gaming experience that closely aligns with the vision of game developers, offering players a cinematic and authentic visual journey.

Authenticity is also achieved through Game Sound Modes for RPG (Role-Playing Games) and FPS (First-Person Shooter) genres. The FPS mode is finely tuned to accentuate crucial sound cues, like footsteps, providing a tactical advantage in shooter games. While the RPG mode creates a 3D soundscape with clear dialogues, essential for immersive storytelling and strategic gameplay. 

HDR Picture Adjustment with Tone Mapping OFF is another notable feature for ensuring high brightness levels and detailed visibility, without overblowing the highlights. It allows for perfect adjustment of HDR games right at the source, rather than the TV.

The updated Game Control Board onscreen overlay means all game settings are easily accessible from the game settings dashboard, allowing gamers to adapt settings in real time. You can also place it on the customisable MyApp button on the remote control for quick access.

The top-end 2024 Panasonic OLED TVs are also G- all NVIDIA® G-SYNC® compatible and AMD FreeSync™ Premium⁹ certified televisions.

In terms of G-SYNC, this means that when a TV is connected to a PC using a NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics card, it automatically optimises input lag and VRR settings, ensuring fluid, tear-free gaming experience that is validated by NVIDIA.
