Guide to Fresh-Smelling Laundry

Guide to Fresh-Smelling Laundry

Here are tips for better washing habits to prevent the growth of odour-causing bacteria.
You can also utilise the two hygienic functions of Panasonic washing machines.

Are You Bothered by the Smell of Half-dried Laundry?

Diagram showing moisture and unwashed dirt leading to odour-causing Moraxella bacteria.

The foul smell, like a wet rag, may be caused by the excretions of Moraxella bacteria, which feed on sebum and water left in the fibres.

What Should You Do?

Prevent bacteria from multiplying

The basic rule is to dry laundry immediately after washing to prevent the growth of bacteria. It’s also important to keep the washing tub clean.

Have You Had These Experiences?

Eliminate bacteria

If laundry still smells after washing, try soaking items in water with a mild oxygen bleach. Soaking in hot water is also effective, as Moraxella bacteria dies at temperatures over 60°C.

*Check washing instructions first. Hot water is not suitable for delicate materials. Chlorine bleach is not suitable for coloured fabrics.
