What Is Master OLED?

What Is Master OLED?

Master OLED is Panasonic’s flagship OLED TV panel technology. It represents a best-in-class implementation of OLED, which uses advanced panel engineering and proprietary heat management to improve brightness, contrast, and colour.

Panel Innovations

Multi-Layer Heat-Sink and OLED Meta Stacks

Panasonic integrates a proprietary multi-layer heat management setup into the panel architecture and allows the panel to safely operate at higher brightness. Another benefit of this is that it minimises thermal issues, which improves stability over longer viewing periods.

Hollywood Calibration

With viewing experience at the centre of Panasonic’s decisions, it makes sense that the business has collaborated with the likes of Picture Shop, which has provided technical tuning based on real colour-graded content. As a result, these OLED screens are calibrated to professional reference standards, or a Hollywood calibration, and designed to deliver visuals as intended by content creators.

Master OLED Pro Panels: These power the Z90B series, including the 77”, 65” and 55” models, which also feature the HCX Pro AI Processor MK II, delivering exceptional contrast, clarity, and true black levels.

Master OLED Ultimate Panels: These are exclusive to Panasonic’s Z95A series, which is available in 55” and 65”. Full MLA stack and heat-sink architecture are features that deliver the highest brightness and colour performance possible.

How Master OLED Compares to Other OLEDs

There are lots of OLED panel types available in the TV market today, including:

Basic WOLED (White OLED)

Master OLED Pro Cinema (MLA Absent)

  • The most common panel type and often found in entry to mid-tier OLED TVs.
  • WOLED delivers perfect blacks and wide viewing angles, but peak brightness is limited compared to more advanced alternatives.
  • Panasonic provides WOLED models, such as the Z80A and Z85A, but they don’t benefit from the professional-grade tuning and brightness boost found in Master OLED units.
  • This is present in Panasonic’s mid to high-tier range and includes professional tuning and improved brightness over WOLED models. However, it doesn’t reach the luminance levels found in Master Ultimate models.

QD-OLED

  • These use blue OLED emitters, with quantum dots converting to red and green.
  • QD-OLED is renowned for high brightness and vivid colours.

Superior Brightness without Compromise

The combination of MLA and advanced heat-sink engineering means Master OLED Ultimate delivers outstanding brightness on HDR content, with an approximate 33% brightness improvement on older OLED models. However, it also comes with the benefit of no burn-in issues due to its thermal design.

Industry-Level Colour Accuracy

As Panasonic has spent many years collaborating with Hollywood colourists, its TVs can now display films and HDR content exactly as the creators intended. This is ideal for people seeking the most authentic viewing experience.

Best-in-Class Processing

All Master OLED models benefit from Panasonic’s HXC Pro AI II Processor, which delivers content-aware AI turning, Dolby Vision IQ precision mapping, and 144 Hz refresh support for gamers.

Master OLED refers to Panasonic’s flagship OLED panel technology and stands above alternatives throughout the use of Micro Lens Array, advanced heat-sink architecture, professional-grade colour calibration, and best-in-class processing.

For consumers seeking the ultimate OLED experience, including maximum brightness, pure blacks, and film-grade accuracy, Master OLED Ultimate is undoubtedly the benchmark.
