Christmas Star Bread

Clock Image 1 hours 50 minutes
Difficulty: Medium

Ingredients

4
450 g wheat flour
70 g powdered sugar
1 pinch salt
200 g soft butter
2 egg yolks
1 egg white
200 ml lukewarm milk
7 g dry yeast
200 g fine cane sugar
1 tbsp gingerbread spice

Steps

STEP 1

Add flour, powdered sugar, salt, 30g butter, yolk and milk into the baking pan of your bread maker. Fill dry yeast into the yeast dispenser (if your bread maker doesn’t have one, add the yeast directly into the bread pan). Select the “Dough Program” & press start. When the dough is done, place it into a bowl, cover with cling film and leave for 1 hour in a warm place.

STEP 2

Meanwhile, stir remaining butter, cane sugar and gingerbread spice for the filling.

STEP 3

Knead the dough on the lightly floured work space with your hands for a short time and divide into four parts. Shape each piece of dough into round pieces and then roll them out thinly with a rolling pin. Each dough should be slightly larger than a dinner plate.

STEP 4

Spread a third of the filling onto the first dough and place a second dough on top. Continue to layer the remaining filling and dough in this manner.

STEP 5

Place a food plate on top of the layered dough and cut along the edge with a small knife. Remove the dough edge and plate.

STEP 6

Place a small drinking glass in the middle of the round piece of dough and cut it into around 16 parts (only up to the glass). Carefully twist each piece of dough.
