Home Appliance Recycling

For more than 20 years, we have been recycling the four items (air conditioners, TVs, refrigerators, and washing machines) designated by the Home Appliance Recycling Law. The entire Panasonic Group is committed to Panasonic GREEN IMPACT, and our home appliance recycling is making a significant contribution to achieving both a circular economy and a carbon-neutral society.

Initiatives at Panasonic Resource Recycling Factory Kato

Resin recovered from used home appliances must be processed for reuse. We are the only home appliance manufacturer to construct an in-house recycled resin development and production base (Resource Recycling Factory Kato), to realize a circular economy society.
At Resource Recycling Factory Kato, once the resin is sorted and collected at home appliance recycling plants, it is made reusable by washing, removing foreign materials, recovering physical properties, etc., and then used again in products in cooperation with the product development division.
By introducing less new resources, as well as emitting less CO2 during the production of materials, we reduce the environmental impact of our products.

Initiatives at Home Appliance Recycling Plants

In 2023, we became the first in the industry to develop an automatic dismantling system for waste home appliances, in which robots disassemble air conditioner outdoor units without manual labor. A single robot can handle a wide variety of outdoor units and smoothly dismantle them even if they have screws that are difficult to remove due to exposure to the elements.
Our goal is to further achieve safe and secure home appliance recycling in the future.

We promote recycling business in cooperation with the following affiliated companies and recycling plants:
