LUMIX x DJI - A New Partnership

Under the brand message of "Creating new excitement together, transcend the boundaries of stills and video," LUMIX is engaged in all its activities, including product development and marketing, as a brand that walks hand-in-hand and works together with creators.
The L-Mount Alliance, which was launched as a collaborative partnership between the three companies, has also supported a wide range of creators in their photographic and visual creativity by using highly versatile lens mounts. DJI, a camera and camera peripheral manufacturer who joined the alliance in 2022, and LUMIX have decided to form a new partnership. As a response to the increasingly diverse needs of customers, the two companies will provide more options by combining their mutual strengths and enhancing compatibility in order to support creators in their efforts to create works of art exactly the way they envision them.

How to set up and operate DJI LiDAR AF with LUMIX cameras

How to set up and operate DJI ActiveTrack with LUMIX cameras

LiDAR AF

The LiDAR AF of the DJI RS 3 Pro uses the information measured by the LiDAR Range Finder (RS) to control a focus motor, but when used with the LUMIX, the distance measurement information is sent to the camera via USB, and the camera drives the focus, so no focus motor is required, enabling easier handling with a more compact size and greater freedom of shooting. Furthermore, there is no need for lens calibration adjustments, which saves setup time. Thanks to the LiDAR's high-speed 43,200 ranging points within a 14-meter distance, extremely fast AF is realized, which is also effective when shooting in low-light conditions.
* When using LiDAR AF, the following equipment and settings are required.

> DJI equipment

• DJI LiDAR Range Finder RS (LiDAR Module)
• DJI RS 3 Pro (Gimbal)
Connect to the following ports on the gimbal
RSS Camera Control Port: For connecting the camera.
Video Transmission/LiDAR Range Finder Port: For connecting the DJI LiDAR Range Finder.

> LUMIX Settings for operating the system

1. Set to Creative Video Mode
Set the mode dial at the top of the camera to "📹M" (Creative Video Mode)
2. Set the focus to MF

ActiveTrack

Due to joint development by DJI and LUMIX, ActiveTrack on the DJI Ronin series is now supported without the need for either the LiDAR Range Finder or RavenEye video transmission system. The movement of the subject is detected inside the camera and the data is sent to the gimbal, which initiates automatic tracking. Since no external equipment is required, it is lightweight and reduces the burden when shooting, resulting in a significant improvement in shooting efficiency.
* When using ActiveTrack, the following equipment and settings are required.

> DJI equipment

• DJI RS 3 Pro / DJI RS 3 / DJI RS 3 Mini / DJI RS 2 / DJI RSC 2 (Gimbal)
