LUMIX S1H Body Design and Usability
1.8-inch High-Resolution Status LCD
The newly developed high-resolution 1.8-inch status LCD presents optimal information for still photography or videography. Time code and audio information is highly responsive. The display offers outstanding visibility in direct sunlight and allows the user to switch between black and white backgrounds to match the current lighting situation. Three backlight settings are also available: HIGH, LOW, and OFF. MIP (Memory in Pixel) technology helps minimize battery consumption, and the battery level and remaining shots are displayed even when the camera is turned off.
5.76-million-dot Resolution Real View Finder
The large Real View Finder boasts outstanding resolution of 5.76 million dots. Outstanding clarity and sharpness make it feel as though you’re looking at the subject with your own eye and help you concentrate while shooting. With a lens designed for minimum distortion from the center to the corners and high magnification of 0.78x, the Real View Finder supports both perfect framing and high-precision focusing. The responsive OLED display offers an extremely low 0.005-second minimum lag time and an ultra-high 120 fps refresh rate to help keep fast-moving subjects in view.
In addition, the 0.78x magnification ratio can be switched to 0.7x or 0.74x according to the shooting situation.
Night Mode
When shooting dark scenes like starry skies, this mode suppresses the stimulation of eyes that have become accustomed to the dark. The LVF and rear monitor can be set separately.
Live View Boost
The display is brightened by lowering the frame rate and increasing the gain. This lets you shoot while framing, even in extremely dark situations.
Button Illumination
The buttons are illuminated to enable accurate operation in the dark.
8-direction Joystick
The joystick moves freely in eight directions, allowing you to intuitively select the focus area with just your thumb. You can concentrate on your subject more easily and quickly get the shot you want.
Control Customization
All buttons, dials, and cursors are fully customizable, allowing users to create a personalized control system. The settings are accessible through a GUI (graphical user interface) that provides a complete, easy-to-view list.
Body Design
The carefully designed layout supports intuitive control. Buttons used during shooting are grouped on the right side of the camera, while frequently used controls, such as the joystick, are within easy reach of the thumb. To support touch-based operation, the buttons differ in size and shape, and each dial has a slightly different texture. The grip is the culmination of analyzing repeated touch-and-try simulations with professional photographers. It fits snuggly in the hand and feels natural and comfortable to hold.
Double Video Rec. Button
To enhance usability during video shoots, the camera features two red Video Rec. Buttons on the top and front. For example, a user can have the camera on a shoulder rig and support it with the right hand while pushing the button on the front with the left hand to start and stop shooting.
Operation Lock Lever
The Operation Lock Lever can freeze the operation of buttons and dials to prevent unintentional operation. Users can selectively freeze the Front Dial, Rear Dial, Joystick, Cursor Button, and Touch Screen in any combination.
Wireless Remote Control Using LUMIX Sync
Using Wi-Fi 5GHz (IEEE802.11ac) and Bluetooth 4.2 (Low Energy) this feature allows you to connect your camera to a smartphone or tablet, send photos to these devices, and control your LUMIX S1H remotely. With Panasonic’s LUMIX Sync app (Android / iOS), you can remotely control the shutter of your camera and access a wide range of photographic settings. You can even use LUMIX Sync to copy settings from one camera to another,* which is useful when managing multiple cameras in a shoot.
* Copying must done between cameras of the same model.

PC Software “LUMIX Tether” Camera Control
The LUMIX S Series allows tethered shooting via USB with “LUMIX Tether” PC software. It enables camera control and shooting while checking the image on a large PC screen. Naturally, it supports both video and 6K PHOTO / 4K PHOTO. This greatly assists professional workflows in commercial photoshoots at studios.
