Panasonic announces two new Full-Frame Mirrorless S Series cameras tailored for creators and new S Series lens

Sydney, May 14, 2025: Panasonic is pleased to announce the expansion of its renowned LUMIX S Series with the introduction of two new models, the LUMIX S1II and S1IIE. These cameras are designed to offer outstanding photographic and videographic capabilities, characterised by exceptional image quality, dynamic color representation, and significant advancements in video technology.

The LUMIX S1II is meticulously crafted for professional photographers and videographers. It features a newly developed 24.1MP full-frame partially stacked CMOS image sensor and is powered by the latest engine with L² technology. This combination allows for faster readout speeds and processing, facilitating high frame rate recording in formats such as 4K120p and 5.8K 60pⁱ. Furthermore, it excels in dynamic range with the Dynamic Range Boost mode, achieving up to 15 stopsⁱⁱ in V-Log at frame rates below 30p. On the photography side, high-speed continuous shooting of up to 70 frames per secondⁱⁱⁱ with SH / SH pre-burst shooting up to 1.5 seconds ensures the capture of fleeting moments.

LUMIX is proud of the continued collaboration with ARRI, which sees ARRI’s acclaimed LogC3^iv on a full frame mirrorless camera for the first time. This provides filmmakers with access to advanced cinema workflow & flexibility. Panasonic has announced that this feature is expected to be available for the LUMIX S1II, S1IIE and S1RII later in 2025.

Elevating workflow efficiency, the LUMIX S1II enhances versatility and streamlines content production. The highly-regarded Open Gate feature now supports slow motion recording with the option for 5.1K 60p thereby broadening creative possibilities for users. A future firmware update will add multiple frame marker displays to further enhance creative flexibility.

The LUMIX S1IIE will be the preferred choice for those seeking upgrades in ergonomic design and refined engineering. It maintains the celebrated design and ergonomic excellence of the S1II and S1RII, offering potential for creative exploration. It is equipped with a 24.2MP sensor inspired by the characteristics of the LUMIX S5II, thus ensuring exceptional image quality tailored for diverse shooting conditions. It includes standout features from the S1II, positioning itself as a comprehensive tool for creative projects. Notably, the LUMIX S1IIE introduces a new Cinemascope widescreen video format (2.4:1) available in various frame rates including 60p without cropping.

To complement these cameras, Panasonic is also introducing the LUMIX S 24-60mm F2.8 (S-E2460GC) lens based on the L-Mount system standard. This newly added lens to the LUMIX standard zoom lineup features a large aperture of F2.8 throughout its versatile zoom range. The lens is compact and light for its class with a length of approximately 99.9mm and weighing around 544g.
