Phase Hybrid AF supports aggressive shooting

The most important thing with autofocus is to be dependable. It's all about how quickly and faithfully you can capture the subject. In addition to contrast AF, the LUMIX S5II is the first LUMIX mirrorless camera to offer the Phase Detection AF system, which dramatically improves subject tracking and light recognition performance. The camera can capture the subject even in challenging scenes where multiple subjects are involved, delivering accuracy even in backlit or low-light environments.

Human/Animal/Car/Motorcycle/Airplane/Train recognition

779-point AF

The number of AF points has been increased to 779. The improved tracking performance allows the camera to continue to capture even small subjects that are easily out of focus. Even when using 1-Area AF, the AF frame can be set as small as pinpoint level, helping the creator focus on the subject as intended.

Great for shooting as you walk: Active I.S. Technology

LUMIX has long supported hand-held shooting with B.I.S. and 5-Axis Dual I.S.2, and now the LUMIX S5II is equipped with Active I.S., which supports walking shots, to further enhance image stabilization in video recording. Active I.S. determines the status of camera shake and optimizes correction ratios to compensate even for significant motion, while advanced E.I.S.* suppresses peripheral distortion that occurs during video shooting. So now you can capture beautiful images, even if you need to move quickly while the camera is rolling.
