Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Humidity
Control—HVAC Systems Offer Everything You Need

What is HVAC?

The term HVAC is no longer a new word that only engineering-savvy people use.
HVAC, the acronym for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, is the technology of indoor environmental comfort, and sometimes suffixed with R standing for refrigeration (as in HVAC&R or HVACR). The concept behind HVAC includes just about everything relating to air conditioning. What it means is an entire system engineered to provide controls on temperature and humidity, to optimize energy efficiency, and to boost air quality.
HVAC system design is a subdiscipline of mechanical engineering that considers all the systems to maintain a fresh air environment, as well as humidity comfort. Below are some of the systems you may be familiar with.

Heating

The purpose of heaters is to generate warmth for the building. The earliest form of heating was a campfire. The history of heating may date back to the discovery of fire in the early Stone Age. Claims for the earliest definitive evidence of the widespread control of fire by anatomically modern humans dates from 0.5 to 0.3 million years ago.
The use of fire slowly moved indoors with a central fire and a central roof opening to allow smoke to escape. At the same time, tools used to make and control fire improved. Wood was the primary source of raw material used to generate heat. Later there was a newly discovered material called coal that replaced wood as the main fuel. Oil, gas, and electricity followed coal.

Cooling

In air conditioning, the common definition of artificial cooling is cooling the indoor air for comfort.
Reports on extreme, high-temperature weather are around the globe in recent years. It's no longer unusual for heat waves to strike Europe. Yet, air conditioning devices are scarce throughout Europe.

Ventilating

Ventilation is the process of replacing indoor air with clean outside air.
Today's houses and buildings are highly insulated and air-tight, making elaborate supply and exhaust plans for air conditioning a must.

Dehumidifying

The purpose of dehumidification is to remove moisture from the indoor air. Air conditioners, dehumidifiers, ventilation fans, or chemical dehumidifying agents are all used to achieve the purpose.
Too much humidity can cause condensation on windows, wet stains on walls and ceilings, and moldy bathrooms. Rot and structural damage can also result from extended periods of high humidity.

Humidifying

The purpose of humidification is to add moisture to the air during the cooling/heating season. Low humidity, i.e., below 40%, causes scratchy throats and noses, dry skin, itching and chapping. Mucous membranes in the nose and throat dry out, increasing your discomfort and susceptibility to flu and respiratory illness.
If humidity is too low, turning on your humidifier helps. Alternatively, keeping houseplants, or moisture from wet towels or laundry adds humidity.

Control and Monitor Everything about Your HVAC System and Air

Modern industrial or commercial buildings and facilities network their HVAC systems, elevators, and lighting and power equipment. They are all controlled and monitored from a building management system at a control center.

Building Automation System (BAS)

In recent years, a building automation system (BAS) is the most common choice for commercial, office, and industrial buildings. A BAS is the automatic centralized control of a building's air conditioning, electricity, lighting, power, security, and other systems. A BAS provides optimized building environments, improves security, and reduces the building's life cycle costs.
In recent years, the term BAS has become equivalent to the building management system (BMS) and its use is becoming more and more common.

The Age of Smart Homes, Where Communication Systems Connect Just about Every Element of Air Conditioning

What is a Smart Home?

The term “smart home” describes housing that contains a communication network to connect home appliances and IT devices and allow them to be remotely controlled, monitored and accessed via the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and sensory technologies. In short, a smart home is designed to improve comfort and security in living.
You may be already an active user of various functions of home automation. Smart gadgets such as a weight scale and sphygmomanometer synchronized with your smartphone log your health, and you check the physical data to stay fit. Many apps that work with home automation are out there to help improve your health. They keep logs of your sleep length and cycle, heart rate, and respiratory rate. You have easy access to stored data to manage your health.
You can find a smart home security system that fits your life and needs. Facial/voice recognition lock control offer a convenient way to insure that only family members are allowed to lock/unlock your entrance door.

Don't Know Where to Start? Why not Try a Smart Air Conditioner?

A smart home connects various appliances and devices around your home. If you are not sure where to start, why not try out the benefits of a connected air conditioner?

Smartphone/Wireless LAN Connected AC Controls Are in Your Hand Wherever You Are

Most of the latest air conditioners come with wireless LAN (WLAN) connection capability that offers smartphone controls over the Internet.

Summer Heat or Winter Cold Will Go Away Right after You Arrive Home

You don't have to stay at home to turn on your AC and select a temperature that makes you feel the most comfortable.

Voice Control Your Air Conditioner

Command a virtual personal assistant (VPA) like a smart speaker with your voice to turn on/off or set the temperature on your air conditioner.

Your Pet Stays Comfortable While You Are Away

For your furry, feathery or scaly family members, smart air conditioning provides the best comfort possible while you are away on travel. Just command the cooling or heating mode before you set out onto a summer/winter vacation to make your pet feel loved and stay healthy.

Energy Monitor

See the estimated power consumption and compare with other periods to see how your energy bill can be reduced even more.

Select an Air Conditioner Best Suited for Your Smart Home

Benefit from a Panasonic air conditioner that boosts your smart home performance. Take a quick look at what the latest model CS-X409C2 offers you.

• Your AC takes weather data, including pollen level predictions and mold count, to determine whether to start a cleaning cycle.

• A full spectrum of Panasonic's technologies allows for sensor analysis on how the room occupants feel the temperature, i.e., hot or cold, where they are in the room, whether they are working out, sunlight changes, furniture/room layout, to deliver personalized air conditioning. It ensures the best possible comfort while saving energy.
• A dust sensor monitors the quality of room air, which you can view on an app.
• It even turns your AC on or off when you leave or return to a predetermined distance from home and tells you whether or not the AC is on. You won’t waste energy even after rushing out for work without turning it off.
• It reports your monthly electricity bill on your smartphone. Monthly/yearly consumption comparisons help you use energy more efficiently.
