Digital Shotgun Microphone DMW-DMS1
High sound quality, advanced functionality, and a compact, lightweight design. It also offers a cable-free connection through the hot shoe. This all-in-one digital shotgun microphone adapts to any shooting situation.
Compatible cameras (as of February 2026): DC-S1M2, S1M2ES, S1RM2, S5M2, and S5M2X. Firmware must be updated to the latest version. Support for DC-GH7 and G9M2 is planned for the future.

The large-diameter 10mm microphone array captures clear, immersive sound, while six selectable directional modes support flexible recording styles suited to each situation. In addition, our advanced noise reduction technology enables the capture of high-quality audio while reducing ambient noise, both indoors and outdoors.

Featuring a newly developed large-diameter 10mm microphone array, strict quality control standards minimize variation between microphone elements, delivering outstanding sound quality with superior directionality.
Six directional modes for any recording situation
Newly developed beamforming technology enhances recording flexibility. Six selectable directional modes adapt to diverse recording styles and scenarios, including a highly focused directional mode that clearly captures only the intended sound and a stereo mode that faithfully captures the ambiance.
Forward directionality cardioid
Captures sound naturally while retaining some ambient sound. Recommended for when recording multiple people conversations and capturing ambient sounds, etc.
Stereo
Emphasizes the forward direction for recordings with a sense of presence. Recommended for live street performances, studio recordings, etc.
Wide stereo
Emphasizes the feeling of open space for recordings with a sense of presence. Recommended for public presentations, sports events, etc.
Forward directionality supercardioid
Clearly captures front sounds while suppressing sounds from the sides and the rear. Recommended for noisy environments or indoor spaces that have reverberation.
Rearward directionality supercardioid
Clearly captures rear sounds while suppressing sounds from the sides and the front. Recommended for when recording with narration, etc.
Bidirectional supercardioid
Clearly captures front and rear sounds while suppressing sounds from the sides. Recommended for interview recording when there is interaction between the videographer and the subject, etc.
Suppress ambient noise for crystal-clear sound
Newly developed noise suppression technology ensures clear audio recording in various environments. It effectively reduces the effects of noisy surroundings and unpleasant noise, all while maintaining audio quality.
Stable recording even in vibrating or windy conditions
Minimizes vibration noise
By adopting an internal shock-mount mechanism with a floating structure, the system significantly reduces vibration noise during handheld or walking shots.
Minimizes wind noise
The included large windscreen ensures clear audio recording outdoors. It reduces wind noise while maintaining excellent sound quality.
New wind noise cancellation system
Leveraging float recording technology, the new wind noise cancellation system suppresses wind noise without compressing the intended sound, achieving high sound quality even in strong winds.
･For even better wind noise reduction, the use of the included windscreen is recommended.
Conventional method: In strong wind conditions, the entire audio signal is compressed to prevent distortion before wind noise is removed. As a result, the target sound is also compressed.
New method: The dynamic range is expanded using float recording technology before wind noise is removed, so the target sound is not compressed.
Reliable features to capture every important sound
32-bit float recording*
Equipped with dual A/D converters, this device supports 32-bit float recording* with an extended dynamic range. Its high-SPL design handles sound pressure levels exceeding 120 dB, suppressing distortion even in loud environments such as live venues and ensuring clear, high-precision recordings.

Backup recording mode*
To prevent missed takes due to setting errors and to capture ambient sound, the device offers two backup recording modes*. When recording in 4-channel mode, channels 3 and 4 can be used as backups to reliably capture important audio.

Compact yet highly mobile and easy to operate
No cables, just the hot shoe
Power supply and digital audio input are enabled directly from the camera body via the hot shoe connection alone. Despite its compact and lightweight design, it delivers high functionality and minimizes the overall system size.
Easy-to-use physical switches
Intuitive operation is possible via the buttons on the microphone body. Audio settings are consolidated on the side panel, while six directional mode buttons are arranged on the rear. The brightness of the directional mode button lights can be adjusted in three levels from the camera, according to the shooting environment.
Pocket-sized for easy portability
Measuring approximately 63.7 x 45.0 x 73.7 mm and weighing just 100 g, this high-performance microphone is easy to carry and delivers high-quality audio wherever you go.
Dedicated pouch for smart storage
