At photokina in 2002, Panasonic demonstrated that Leica‘s proven lens technology and the MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) can be integrated into ultra-compact digital cameras.

Available in silver, blue, and red (DMC-FX5), silver, blue, red, green, and orange (DMC-FX1), the stylish models livened up the world of digital cameras which tends to be dominated by silver grey and black. They featured a LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT 35-105mm/F2.8-4.9 lens (35mm camera equivalent).
