Shepherd's Pie
If you’re looking for comfort food, you can’t go wrong with shepherd's pie. This classic dish features minced beef, vegetables, mushrooms and mashed potatoes, all layered in a casserole and baked to a golden-brown finish. It’s a hearty meal that’s sure to nourish and satisfy.

- 200 gMinced beef or chicken
- 50 gFresh mushroom (sliced)
- 30 gParsley (chopped)
- 150 gFrozen mixed vegetables
- 100 gWhite onion (chopped coarsely)
- 3 pcsGarlic (minced)
- 1 tspSalt
- 0.5 tspSugar
- 1 tspCoarse black pepper
- 1 tbspCooking oil
- Paprika (to taste)
Flour Mixture
- 1.5 tbspPlain flour
- 3 tbspWater
- 0.5 cubeBeef Stock
(Ingredients A) Mash Potato Seasoning
- 1.5 tbspMilk
- 3 tspMelted butter
- 0.5 tspBlack pepper
- 0.5 tspSalt
- 0.5 egg
Toppings
- 1 kgPotato
- 100 gGrated & shredded cheddar cheese
Steps
1) Combine onion, garlic and cooking oil in a 2 litre microwave safe casserole. Cook without lid using Micro Power 1000 W for 3 mins.
2) Remove it from the microwave and add in minced beef, salt, sugar and black pepper. After that, cook uncovered using Micro Power 600 W for 2 mins.
3) Remove it from the microwave and add in mixed vegetables, mushrooms and parsley. Cover with lid and cook using Micro Power 600 W for 2 mins.
4) Remove it from the microwave and stir in the flour mixture. Cover with lid and cook using Micro Power 1000 W for 2 mins. Remove it from the microwave and set aside for later use.
5) Cook potatoes with 3 tbsp water in a microwave-safe dish using Micro Power 1000 W for 13-15 mins. Cover with lid, flip potatoes halfway through cooking.
6) Remove it from the mircrowave. Peel the potato and mash with fork or blend in a food processor.
7) Add in ingredients A and mix well.
8) Spread 1/2 of the mashed potato on the beef.
9) Sprinkle 1/2 of the cheddar cheese, top with the remaining mashed potato.
Tip: Do not push too hard when spreading the mashed potato
10) Lastly, sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese and paprika.
11) Pierce the pie gently. Avoid pressing it down too hard. Place the casserole on Grill Tray.
12) Preheat oven at 200°C and bake on lower shelf for 30 minutes; until surface is golden brown. You can bake in full size or as mini versions for celebrations.
