LUMIX S series lens first: Switchable to control ring

The focus ring can also be used as a control ring*, letting you customise key settings such as aperture control and exposure compensation. You can even change the ring’s rotation direction for a more familiar feel. The lens also has a Function button, which lets you quickly access features like the Hybrid Zoom**.

Take full control of your focus - even while zooming. With manual focus available throughout the zoom range, you can easily pull focus between subjects for a more cinematic feel. The focus ring supports both linear and non-linear response modes:
• In non-linear mode, focus speed changes with how quickly you turn the ring, perfect for quick, instinctive adjustments.
• In linear mode, focus shifts at a steady, user-defined pace, giving you the precision of traditional mechanical lenses - ideal for repeatable, controlled focus moves.

Other features

A new Dual Phase Linear Motor and optical encoder enables high-speed, high-precision autofocus performance. Additionally, the quiet drive system minimises focus noise during video recording. Plus, phase detection AF works even while zooming.

This lens is designed to keep shooting in the toughest conditions thanks to its dust- and splash-resistant construction* and allowing you to shoot in temperatures as low as -10°C. The fluorine coating applied to the front lens makes it easy to remove oil-based dirt sticking to it.

Advanced optical design and an optimized internal barrel structure effectively suppress focus breathing. In high-contrast scenes, micro-step aperture control enables smooth F-stop transitions, preventing sudden exposure changes. The lens also maintains a stable centre of gravity while zooming, making it ideal for use with gimbals.
