The Phase Hybrid AF utilizes 779 focus points to effectively capture dynamically moving subjects. When combined with real-time recognition AF, the LUMIX S1RII delivers exceptional autofocus performance even in challenging conditions, such as backlighting, low-light environments, and with small subjects.
Firmware version 1.2 introduces 10 focus frame colours, enhancing visibility against any subject or background for better usability.*

Improved eye/face accuracy with advanced AI
High-resolution cameras demand extremely precise focusing. The LUMIX S1RII incorporates advanced AI technology for detecting human eyes and faces, resulting in enhanced recognition performance.* This model particularly excels in challenging scenes, such as when the subject's face is tilted or partially obscured, allowing for more accurate focusing on the eyes and face.
With firmware version 1.3, you can switch the AF frame for human eye recognition between the conventional “crosshairs” and the newly added “rectangular” option.

Evolved AF tracking + Real-time recognition
With Subject Detection* enabled in tracking mode, the new automatic tracking feature quickly identifies and locks onto a subject as soon as they pass through the designated tracking start point.
*You can switch between Human, Animal, Car, Motorcycle/Bike, Train, and Airplane in the Type of Subject menu under Automatic Detection.

The performance of the Tracking AF mode has dramatically improved.* The advanced AI instantly analyses the characteristics of individuals and identifies each subject. Even in scenes where multiple people intersect, such as in sports, it consistently tracks the desired person with precision. **
In addition to automatically detecting up to 15 people, firmware version 1.3 adds a setting to display the recognition frame only for the primary subject.***
*When AF mode is set to Tracking and the Type of Subject under Automatic Detection is set to Human, and Eye/Face/Body is selected from Target Parts.
**It may select another subject if the subjects have similar clothes, colours, or posture, or if the subject you want to shoot is hidden for a prolonged period of time.

Evolved real-time recognition AF
LUMIX's subject recognition technology continues to evolve, supporting diverse shooting scenarios. The LUMIX S1RII enhances human recognition by adding Urban Sports* to existing detection capabilities for eyes, faces, and bodies, accurately capturing dynamic movements like breakdancing, skateboarding, and parkour.
This model also recognizes bicycles, alongside humans, animals, cars, motorcycles, trains and airplanes, offering detailed targeting options such as human and animal eyes, vehicle windshields, the helmets of drivers and motorcyclists, or the nose of an airplane. Animal eyes, just like human eyes, can be easily switched left or right using the joystick.

The LUMIX S1RII features a 5-axis B.I.S. (Body Image Stabiliser) that effectively compensates for handshake, even with lenses that do not have O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabiliser), allowing for slower shutter speeds of up to 8.0-stops (center) / 7.0-stops (periphery).*
In the telephoto range, where the compensation effect of the B.I.S. alone is reduced, the 5-axis Dual I.S. 2 works in conjunction with the 2-axis O.I.S. to achieve a compensation effect of 7.0-stops (center) / 7.0-stops (periphery).** This enables you to express your creativity without worrying about handshake in various situations, including low-light environments and at telephoto distances.

Smooth, Steady Handheld Video, Even on the Move
Advanced E.I.S. + Active I.S.
The LUMIX S1RII ensures smooth, stable video recording, even when shooting handheld while moving. With Active I.S., the camera detects and compensates for camera shake in the pitch, yaw, and roll directions, delivering steady footage. E.I.S. further reduces large camera shakes, resulting in a more natural and fluid video experience.
For additional flexibility, the cropless mode compensates for perspective distortion without altering the angle of view, especially when using wide-angle lenses.
