Panasonic launches LUMIX S PRO 24-70mm F2.8 (S-E2470): ‘Workhorse’ L-Mount interchangeable lens for the LUMIX S Series lineup

Panasonic is proud to introduce the LUMIX S PRO 24-70mm F2.8 (S-E2470), a new interchangeable lens based on the L-Mount system for the LUMIX S Series full-frame Digital Single Lens Mirrorless Camera.
Scott Mellish, Senior Product Marketing Manager, LUMIX, said: “This new S Pro lens will be a popular workhorse for professionals, with its 24-70mm focal length ensuring versatile use for landscapes, snaps and portraits. The full-range F2.8 high-speed aperture ensures impressive low-light performance and the ability to isolate the subject from the background.”
A double focus system combining a linear motor and a stepping motor achieves sensor drive at a maximum speed of 480 fps and achieves fast, high-precision AF. A focus clutch mechanism enables instant AF/MF switching and linear manual focusing. The LUMIX S PRO 24-70mm F2.8 also excels in video recording performance with a mechanism that suppresses focus breathing.
The rugged dust/splash-resistant design of the S-E2470 withstands use under harsh conditions down to temperatures of -10 degrees Celsius[i]. LUMIX S PRO lenses boast the ultimate optical performance, certified by LEICA for clearing stringent LEICA standards.
Comprising 18 lenses in 16 groups, the use of 3 aspherical lenses and 4 ED (Extra-low Dispersion) lenses effectively suppresses both axial chromatic aberration and chromatic aberration of magnification. Astigmatism is also corrected with these aspherical lenses, achieving high resolving performance. Furthermore, a UHR (Ultra-High Refractive Index) lens achieves uniform image quality from the center to the edges of the image while contributing to downsizing of the lens unit. The filter diameter of the lens is 82 mm, with an 11-blade circular aperture diaphragm.
The LUMIX S Series full-frame mirrorless camera system adopts the L-Mount system to provide users with a diverse and future-proof range of products. Panasonic is committed to designing and developing 10 or more lenses with the emphasis on “LUMIX S PRO” lenses by 2020. Furthermore, with a roadmap forecasting more than 46 interchangeable lenses to be available by 2020 (from Panasonic, Leica Camera and Sigma), the L-mount is fast becoming the most versatile mirrorless camera system on the market.

The S-E2470 will be available in Australia in October 2019 from photographic specialists and consumer electronics retailers, priced at $3599 RRP. For further information, please visit www.panasonic.com.au
