Advanced video features. LUMIX's first 8K video.
Featuring 8K 30p and a full range of recording modes to meet the needs of professional workflows
8.1K / 8K 30p 4:2:0 10-bit
The LUMIX S1RII offers 8.1K (17:9) and 8K (16:9) video recording for the first time for LUMIX. With an impressive resolution four times that of 4K, it captures every detail, from individual strands of hair and skin texture to the fine details of vast landscapes. Additionally, it supports wide dynamic range log recording, enabling the creation of immersive footage.
8.1K 24p* / 7.2K 30p* open gate video recording
The LUMIX S1RII is capable of recording 8.1K 24p*, 7.2K 30p* and 6.4K 30p in open gate video, which uses the entire sensor area. This makes it possible to crop the image in post-production retaining image quality, enabling flexible framing for any social media platform or client needs.
*Please update the firmware to version 1.2. Download from here.
4K 60p 4:2:2 10-bit ALL-Intra / 4K 120p 4:2:0 10-bit
The LUMIX S1RII also offers recording modes for high-end editing. 4K 60p 4:2:2 10-bit ALL-Intra recording combines a huge amount of information with enhanced resolution through oversampling, delivering exceptional video quality. 4K 120p 4:2:0 10-bit high frame rate video recording allows you to create slow-motion video with audio by converting the frame rate using non-linear editing software.
Proxy video recording
It is also possible to record a low-bitrate proxy file. Simultaneously recording a proxy file that is linked with the original video recording greatly improves the efficiency of post-production work, such as data transfer and editing.
・Proxy video recording is not possible for MP4, exceeding a resolution of C4K, 4:3 or 3:2 aspect ratio, high frame rate video.
・The recording time varies depending on the shooting format and the operating conditions. It will stop automatically once the internal temperature gets too high.
・Depending on the Rec Quality and Image Area of Video settings, the following crop zoom rates are used for recording:
When Image Area of Video is FULL
5.9K video (60p/50p/48p): Approx. 1.11x, 5.8K video (60p/50p/48p): Approx.1.04x, C4K video (120p/100p): Approx. 1.1x, C4K video (60p/50p/48p): Approx. 1.04x, 4K video (120p/100p): Approx. 1.17x, 4K video (60p/50p/48p): Approx. 1.11x, FHD video (120p/100p): Approx. 1.17x, FHD video (60p/50p/48p): Approx. 1.11x
When Image Area of Video is PIXEL/PIXEL
C4K video (120p/100p): Approx. 1.1x, 4K video (120p/100p): Approx. 1.1x
Enables flexible color grading
14 stops V-Log/V-Gamut*
The LUMIX S1RII provides both ultra-high-resolution 8K video recording and 14 stops* of dynamic range when Dynamic Range Expansion is enabled. It faithfully captures details from dark areas to highlights, allowing you to create HDR videos with rich gradation. The LUMIX S and G Series cameras feature unified gamma characteristics and a consistent look, enhancing efficiency in post-production.
*Dynamic Range Expansion (Log) ON: 14 stops. Dynamic Range Expansion (Log) OFF: 13 stops.
・When using Dynamic Range Expansion (Log), the ISO sensitivity lower limit is 400 (when set to Extended ISO: 200).
・When using Dynamic Range Expansion (Log), the video image quality is restricted and there will be an increase in rolling shutter distortion.
・When using Dynamic Range Expansion (Log), power consumption increases and the battery is consumed faster. The temperature increase in the camera is also faster.
・When Dynamic Range Expansion (Log) is set, the following functions are not available:
– Rec Quality with a recording frame rate that exceeds 30.00p
– Rec Quality with a resolution of 6.4K and a recording frame rate that exceeds 25.00p
– Live Cropping
*When recording in 8.1K (3:2) 24p, 8.1K (17:9) 30p/25p/24p, 7.2K 30p/25p, 5.7K 60p/50p or 4.8K 60p/50p, constant bitrate 5:1 or less is recommended for SSD recording and 8:1 or less for SD card recording.

Dual AD converters
16-bit / 24-bit linear recording: Processed with a single AD converter after adjusting the sound input level.
32-bit float recording: Processed with dual AD converters optimized for large and small sound input levels.
Advantages when gain increasing in editing
16-bit / 24-bit linear recording: Increasing the volume during editing reduces resolution.
32-bit float recording: Increasing the volume during editing maintains resolution.
Advantages when gain decreasing in editing
16-bit / 24-bit linear recording: Reducing the volume during editing leaves the audio waveform distorted.
32-bit float recording: Reducing the volume during editing preserves the audio waveform.
