New LUMIX FT7 with LVF and Wi-Fi^® featuring 4K Video & 4K Photo

    Panasonic is introducing a new 20.4-megapixel LUMIX FT7 with 28mm wide angle 4.6x optical zoom lens (35mm equivalent: 28-128mm) to its rugged design FT series exclusively geared for wild outdoor use. Featuring high durability of being waterproof to 31 m / 102 ft, dustproof, shockproof to 2 m / 6.6 ft, freezeproof to -10 degrees C / 14 degrees F and pressure resistance to 100 kgf / 220 lbf protects the camera under use of almost any severe conditions.
    A new 0.2-inch 1,170K-dot equivalent LVF (Live View Finder) is added on the LUMIX FT7, making it easier to capture subject even under strong sunlight or in backlighting. The 3.0-inch rear monitor boasts highest-in-class 1,040K-dot resolution featuring approximately100% field of view.
    The LUMIX FT7 records stunningly smooth, high-resolution QFHD 4K video in 3840x2160 at 30p / 25p(50Hz Area) or 24p in MP4. Taking advantage of 4K technology, users can enjoy 4K PHOTO to capture those unmissable moments at 30 fps and save in 8-megapixel high resolution photos. Post Focus is also available.
    Newly integrated 20.4-megapixel High Sensitivity MOS sensor is adopted and the imaging engine feature high speed, high sensitivity image recording to realize high speed burst shooting at 10 fps* in high picture quality. It also contributes to the Light Speed AF to catch the most fleeting shooting opportunities.
    The LUMIX FT7 includes Wi-Fi^® connectivity to offer a more flexible shooting experience and instant image sharing with easy operation. A variety of special effects that add fun to shooting experience are integrated in LUMIX FT7– Creative Control, Creative Panorama, Time Lapse Shot and High Speed Video. For beginners, LUMIX’s popular shooting assist function iA (Intelligent Auto) mode helps to shoot beautiful photo/video without mistake. Torch Light function allows the camera to serve as a light with its built-in LED. It also complies with USB power charging.

1. 31m / 102 ft waterproof rugged design boosting outdoor excitement
    The new LUMIX FT7 boasts even more rugged design that enables waterproof to 31 m / 102 ft, dustproof, shockproof to 2 m / 6.6 ft, freezeproof to -10 degrees C / 14 degrees F and pressure resistance to 100 kgf / 220 lbf. Thanks to its minimum apertural area and the rubber padding and reinforced glass inside the camera, the LUMIX FT7 features an airtight body protected against water immersion, dust and sand. Body case is even more thickened to withstand high water pressure of 31m / 102ft. The shockproof allows the camera become droppable from a height up to 2.0m/6.6ft in accordance with the "MIL-STD 810F Method516.5-Shock" test standard. All components including the lens unit are reexamined to endure the temperature as low as -10 degrees C / 14 degrees F.
    Not only that, the FT series is the camera specially designed for active outdoor use adopts compass and altimeter. Take out the camera to fishing or camping in the springtime, to diving, snorkeling, surfing in summer, or mountain climbing in autumn and to skiing or snowboarding in winter – The LUMIX FT7 is an all-year-round active field player to record stunning memories in beautiful photo and video.

2.New LVF (Live View Finder) and high resolution rear monitor
    The LUMIX FT7 integrates a new 0.2-inch 1,170K-dot equivalent LVF (Live View Finder). Now it is easier to capture subject even under strong sunlight or in backlighting. Both the sensor and the LVF are in 4:3 aspect. The 3.0-inch rear monitor in 3:2 aspect boasts highest-in-class 1,040K-dot resolution featuring approximately100% field of view. The image output between the LVF and the rear monitor is switched with a dedicated button instantly. Tempered glass is adopted for the cover glass of LCD.

3 .4K capability bringing the evolution in videography/photography – 4K video and 4K PHOTO
    The LUMIX FT7 records stunningly smooth, high-resolution QFHD 4K videos in 3840x2160 at 30p / 25p(50Hz Area) or 24p in MP4* in addition to Full-HD 1,920 x 1,080 60p / 50p(50Hz Area) videos in MP4 (MPEG-4 / H.264) format with practical full-time AF.
    Taking advantage of 4K technology, users can enjoy 4K PHOTO with LUMIX FT7. With the 4K PHOTO, users can capture the fleeting photo opportunities at 30 fps in 8-megapixel equivalent resolution by extracting a frame of the most photogenic timing out of the 4K burst file to save as a photo. Three exclusive functions are integrated to make the 4K photography even easier; 4K Burst Shooting, 4K Burst (Start/Stop) and 4K Pre-burst. The 4K Burst Shooting allows consecutive shooting at 30 fps*, which can be used just like a photo burst shooting. The LUMIX FT7 comes with the Post Focus function that enables users to select in-focus area even after shooting. It is helpful in situations like macro shooting where severe focusing is required or for changing expressions by changing focused subject.
    The 4.6x optical zoom with POWER O.I.S. is available in video recording, too. The Auto Wind Cut function blocks out most of the noise from background wind.
    High Speed Video enables recording subject with fast motion in HD(1280x720) at 120 fps (60Hz Area) / 100 fps (60Hz Area), while Time Lapse /Stop Motion Animation are also available.

4. High picture quality with new 20.4-megapixel High Sensitivity MOS Sensor
    The new LUMIX FT7 integrates 20.4-megapixel High Sensitivity MOS sensor to achieve highest-in-class resolution. The LUMIX FT7 boasts high-speed response to achieve burst shots at 10 fps* in full resolution with mechanical shutter and 5 fps with continuous AF. Auto focusing is fast and accurate with its Light Speed AF. The LUMIX FT7 incorporates a high-quality 28mm wide-angle LUMIX lens with a 4.6x optical zoom (35mm equivalent: 28-128mm) in folded optics. Thanks to the Intelligent Resolution technology, the Intelligent Zoom is available with the LUMIX FT7, which virtually extends the zoom ratio to 9.1x equivalent maintaining the picture quality even combining the digital zoom. POWER O.I.S.(Optical Image Stabilizer) effectively suppress handshake.

The LUMIX FT7 integrates Wi-Fi^® connectivity to offer a more flexible shooting experience and instant image sharing with easy operation. Once the camera is connected to a smartphone or tablet installed with Panasonic's dedicated application software Panasonic Image App for iOS / Android, users can shoot, browse and share images remotely. GPS geotag can also be added on the photos after shooting.
• AC/USB Power Charging
The camera’s battery can be recharged either via AC or via USB according to the users’ convenience.
･ Creative Control – The LUMIX FT7 is equipped with Creative Control featuring a total of 22 filter effects – Expressive, Retro, Old Days, High Key, Low Key, Sepia, Monochrome, Dynamic Monochrome, Rough Monochrome, Silky Monochrome, Impressive Art, High Dynamic, Cross Process, Toy Effect, Toy Pop, Bleach Bypass, Miniature Effect, Soft Focus, Fantasy, Star Filter, One Point Color, and Sunshine. The Creative Control lets users shoot with a filter effect while checking how it makes difference on the picture, which can be used for video recording, too*. With the Creative Panorama function, it is possible to shoot a horizontal / vertical panoramic image with consequent shots taken by overlaying the previous picture and to put on a filter effect of Expressive, Retro, Old Days, High Key, Low Key, Sepia, Monochrome, Dynamic Monochrome, Rough Monochrome, Silky Monochrome, Impressive Art, High Dynamic, Cross Process, Bleach Bypass, Soft Focus, Fantasy, Star Filter and One Point Color.

The LUMIX FT7 complies with SDXC UHS-I Memory Card for high speed data recording such as 4K video.

Waterproof/Dustproof Performance
This camera’s waterproof/dustproof rating complies with the “IPX8” and “IP6X” ratings. Provided the care and maintenance guidelines described in this document are strictly followed, this camera can operate underwater, to a depth not exceeding 31 m (102 feet) for a time not exceeding 60 minutes. Anti-shock Performance
This camera also complies with “MIL-STD 810F Method 516.5-Shock”. The camera has cleared a drop test from a height of 2 m (6.6 feet) onto 3 cm (0.1 feet) thick plywood. In most cases this camera should not sustain any damage if dropped from a height not exceeding 2 m (6.6 feet). (*2)

Withstand Load Performance
This camera complies with 100 kgf/220.5 lbf load tests. (*3)

This does not guarantee no destruction, no malfunction, or waterproofing in all conditions.
*1 This means that the camera can be used underwater for specified time in specified pressure in accordance with the handling method established by Panasonic.
*2 “MIL-STD 810F Method 516.5-Shock” is the test method standard of the U.S. Defense Department, which specifies performing drop tests from a height of 122 cm (4 feet), at 26 orientations (8 corners, 12 ridges, 6 faces) using 5 sets of devices, and passing the 26 orientation drops within 5 devices. (If failure occurs during the test, a new set is used to pass the drop orientation test within a total of 5 devices) Panasonic’s test method is based on the above “MIL-STD 810F Method 516.5-Shock”. However, the drop height was changed from 122 cm (4 feet) to 200 cm (6.6 feet) dropping onto 3 cm (0.1 feet) thick playboard. This drop test was passed. (Disregarding appearance change such as loss of paint or distortion of the part where drop impact is applied.)

Handling of the camera
• Waterproofing is not guaranteed if the unit is subject to an impact as a result of being hit or dropped etc. If an impact to the camera occurs, it should be inspected (subject to a fee) by Panasonic to verify that the waterproofing is still effective.
• When the camera is splashed with detergent, soap, hot spring, bath additive, sun oil, sun screen, chemical, etc., wipe it off immediately.
• Waterproof function of the camera is for sea water and fresh water only.
• Any malfunction caused by customer misuse, or mishandling will not be covered by the warranty.
• The inside of this unit is not waterproof. Water leakage will cause malfunction.
• Supplied accessories are not waterproof.
• Card and battery are not waterproof. Do not handle with a wet hand. Also, do not insert wet card or battery into the camera.
• Do not leave the camera for a long period of time in places where the temperature is very low (such as at ski resorts or high altitudes) or where the temperature may exceed 40 degrees C (104 degrees F) (such as inside cars in strong sunlight, close to a heater, on boats, or on the beach). (Waterproof performance may become degraded.)
