PANASONIC INTRODUCES PERSONALISED TVs THAT GO "BEYOND SMART"

LIFE+ SCREEN

Panasonic today announced that this spring it will launch a new category of television, called “Life+ Screen,” which represents the future of television beyond Smart TV.

Panasonic has set out to completely rethink how TVs from now on should be by taking into account thoughts on how people live their lives today – and how that will change tomorrow – the changing ways we currently use large-screen TVs, and the increasingly huge amounts of viewing content available via conventional broadcasts, online Video on Demand (VOD) services, and User Generated content (both private and online).

Consequently, building on the success of the my Home Screen personalisation features it introduced last year, Panasonic’s Life+ Screens completely overhaul the user interface and implement dramatic enhancements in learning the content preferences of individual users, breaking different content out of its silos, and making navigation far easier and more intuitive.

PERSONALISED TO BRING YOU WHAT YOU WANT TO WATCH QUICKER AND EASIER

Panasonic’s Life+ Screen gets to know the preferences of individual users (or the family as a whole) and uses that knowledge to have your favourite content waiting for you as soon as you switch it on. Rather than relying solely on cumulative viewing patterns to generate recommendations, Panasonic’s new TVs are able to recognise each user individually and to build up a personalised profile of their favourite content thanks to an ingenious “my” Button on the Touch Pad Remote.* Pressing the “my” Button alerts the TV that you specifically like the kind of content you are currently viewing, and uses the programme metadata together with advanced algorithms to present more appropriate recommendations.
* Only available in the AX800 Series and AS700 Series.

A SEAMLESS USER INTERFACE BUILT AROUND YOU

The really ingenious part is how this recommended content is then presented to the user. Panasonic has completely re-imagined how the graphic user interface for next-generation home displays should be by introducing my Stream, a kind of individualised channel of content personalised just for you, seamlessly including content from different sources. This means that recommended YouTube videos, web site bookmarks, and HDD content are all presented within the same interface allowing users to simply view the content they want to see without having to worry about the source. Home movies, family photos, frequently used web sites, and online videos are also seamlessly included in the my Stream interface.

VOICE RECOGNITION & VOICE NAVIGATION

Navigation and searching for content have also become much easier. Starting up my Stream is as simple as just saying "my Stream" to the microphone in the Touch Pad Remote or the microphones built-in to the TV.* Searching for content is also as simple as telling the TV what you are looking for – the Life+ Screen Voice Interaction Pro functionality removes the need for any complicated navigation or searching.
* Voice recognition using the microphones built in to the TV only operates during Info Bar mode.

AUTO WAKE & INFO BAR NOTIFICATIONS

In order to make Life+ Screen more than just a content viewing device, Panasonic has innovated a way for it to also become a useful everyday information display. Life+ Screen will automatically wake from standby mode when it senses somebody nearby, and will display useful information graphically, such as the time, date, and weather – a feature called Info Bar. Furthermore, when Life+ Screen identifies a nearby user via the built-in camera, it will present further information specifically personalised to that user, such as video messages, other notifications, and recommended content.

OUTSIDE THE LIVING ROOM & CLOUD INTEGRATION

Interaction with Life+ Screen is not limited to the living room. Working with Panasonic’s cloud service, my Home Cloud, Life+ Screen forms a seamless network to share information and content with smartphones. For example, you can easily share video memos, text messages and photos between Life+ Screen and your smartphone when you are away from home.

1ST MALAYSIA LOCALIZED MY HOME SCREEN – “MY FOOD SCREEN”

PICTURE QUALITY

Panasonic has long been recognised as THE picture quality leader. Although Life+ Screen’s “Beyond Smart” features are not limited to only 4KTVs, combining Life+ Screen features with Panasonic’s astounding 4K picture quality takes the TV experience to a new level. All of Panasonic’s vast experience accumulated over the years of inventing and developing plasma TVs has been incorporated into the creation of their new 4K AX800 and AX900 series. This is evident in the vivid reproduction of an incredibly wide colour range and a superbly high contrast to express deep, robust blacks – the two key factors which made plasma the displays with the best picture quality. This has now been combined with the high brightness of the LED panels to give the new AX800 and AX900 Series a level of picture quality that surpasses any device, including plasma TVs.

PREMIUM FURNITURE DESIGN

Life+ Screens are designed to embody elegant simplicity. Articulate combinations of simple lines create a beautiful, horizontal profile. While Life+ Screen delivers the next-generation TV experience and breathtaking pictures, the screen itself will not obstruct the view, blending in naturally with the living space in which it is placed.
