Panasonic Corporation's GX*1 Strategy

We manufacture products that are used by many customers. While these products enrich our lives,
our products consume electricity during their use phase, resulting in emitting CO2.
In addition, we use a lot of resources in our manufacturing process, which places a burden on the earth.
Given our current business characteristics, we consider rolling the two wheels of
'Carbon Neutrality' and 'Circular Economy' to be the most important pillars for our GX strategy.
In order to promote carbon neutrality and circular economy actions in our business,
we develop our management systems and structure necessary to accelerate and realize both.

*1 GX: Green Transformation

Our Approach to Carbon Neutrality

As an approach to carbon neutrality, we focus not only on reducing energy consumption during the use of Panasonic products through energy efficiency but also on the perspective of "transforming our living infrastructure for decarbonization."
Remarkable initiative include Electrification, Hydrogen, and Natural Refrigerants.

Energy Saving

By reducing energy consumption during product use,
CO2 emissions generated during energy production are decreased.
This has long been a strong point for Panasonic.

Electrification

For example, switching from conventional heating equipment that burns fossil fuels to Air to Water, which runs on electricity, reduces CO2 emissions.
By producing electricity from renewable energy sources, zero CO2 emissions are achieved.

Hydrogen

Pure hydrogen fuel cells do not emit CO2 when generating electricity.
By linking these pure hydrogen fuel cells with solar cells and storage batteries,
the building of a decentralized energy system that does not emit CO2 is enabled.

Natural Refrigerants

Refrigerants used in air conditioners generally contain compounds with a very high global warming potential, higher than CO2.
By replacing these with natural refrigerants, the global warming potential and CO2 emissions are reduced.

Our Approach to Circular Economy

We want our customers to use and love Panasonic products for as long as possible.
To this end, '01 Reducing new source inputs' and '03 Creating a mechanism for circulation'
to recycle used products are very important,
but we also believe it is particularly important to '02 Transforming to a long-term business model'
so that our products can be used for a long time.

Our GX Strategy Target and Progress

We emit approximately 100 million tons of CO2 annually,
accounting for about 90% of the Panasonic Group's total emissions.
In pursuit of Panasonic GREEN IMPACT,we aim to halve our CO2 emissions by 2030
while simultaneously contributing to avoided emissions.
