Environment: Chemical Substance Management

*Management of Chemical Substances in Products

Based on the Panasonic Group’s concept of minimizing the impact on the environment, we will provide global solutions for the “realization of a sustainable society” and the “minimization of the impact on the environment” through products.

Communication in the Supply Chain (Information transmission on chemical substances)
With "Product Chemical Substance Management System," Panasonic collects information on components, devices and materials which suppliers distribute, and quickly responds to survey requests from customers on chemical substances contained in products. Panasonic makes efforts to reduce workload for information transmission among companies by using industrial standard formats as survey forms for suppliers.

*Management of Chemical Substances at Factories

The Panasonic Group identifies chemical substances that are hazardous to human health and the environment in accordance with major laws and regulations related to chemical substances, and manages them based on the Chemical Substances Management Rank Guidelines (For Factories).
Additionally, we assign a hazard factor to each substance, indicating the level of significance regarding the substance's hazard, and formulate the Panasonic Group's own indicator called the Human Environmental Impact.

As a user of a wide range of chemical substances in the manufacture of products in a variety of fields, we are committed to reducing the impact on both people and the environment. This commitment involves employing alternative materials, developing manufacturing techniques that reduce emissions and transportation, and promoting the recycling of waste and other materials based on the Human Environmental Impact.

*Chemical Substances Management Rank Guidelines

To ensure the safe implementation of our activities, the Panasonic Group sets forth the Chemical Substances Management Rank Guidelines , which aim to specify the chemical substances whose use should be prohibited or controlled in products and factory processes. As required, the Company requests compliance with these guidelines, not only within our company, but also among our suppliers.
