The class-leading autofocus and image stabilization

High-speed, high-precision Phase Hybrid AF
With the Phase Hybrid AF system, the LUMIX S1II achieves high-speed, high-precision autofocus. It quickly calculates subject distance and captures fast-moving subjects across 779 focus points. A newly developed partially stacked CMOS sensor enables high-speed processing, delivering autofocus performance approximately 1.6 times faster than that of previous models*. As a result, it delivers exceptional autofocus performance even in challenging conditions, such as backlighting, low-light environments, and with small subjects.
Firmware version 1.1 introduces 10 focus frame colors, enhancing visibility against any subject or background for better usability.*
*When the LVF frame rate is set to 120 fps. Compared with Panasonic digital camera DC-S5M2.
**Please update the firmware to version 1.1. Download from here.

Improved eye/face accuracy with advanced AI
The LUMIX S1II incorporates advanced AI technology for detecting human eyes and faces, resulting in enhanced recognition performance.* This model particularly excels in challenging scenes, such as when the subject's face is tilted or partially obscured, allowing for more accurate focusing on the eyes and face.
*When the Type of Subject in Automatic Detection is set to Human and Eye/Face is selected from Target Parts.

Tracking AF + Real-time recognition
Turn on Automatic Detection*, set the AF frame where you want tracking to begin, and you're ready to go. With AF tracking activating automatically the moment your subject enters the frame, you can stay focused on composition while waiting for the perfect shot. When the subject is a person**, advanced AI instantly analyzes characteristics to identify individuals***, enabling precise tracking even in scenes with many people, such as sports or weddings.
*You can switch between Human, Animal, Car, Motorcycle/Bike, Train, and Airplane in the Type of Subject menu under Automatic Detection.
**When AF mode is set to Tracking and the Type of Subject under Automatic Detection is set to Human, and Eye/Face/Body is selected from Target Parts.
***It may select another subject if the subjects have similar clothes, colors, or posture, or if the subject you want to shoot is hidden for a prolonged period of time.

Now featuring Urban Sports
Evolved real-time recognition AF
LUMIX's subject recognition technology continues to evolve, supporting diverse shooting scenarios. The LUMIX S1II enhances human recognition by adding Urban Sports to existing detection capabilities for eyes, faces, and bodies, accurately capturing dynamic movements like breakdancing, skateboarding, and parkour.
This model also recognizes bicycles, alongside humans, animals, cars, motorcycles, trains and airplanes, offering detailed targeting options such as human and animal eyes, vehicle windshields, the helmets of drivers and motorcyclists, or the nose of an airplane. Animal eyes, just like human eyes, can be easily switched left or right using the joystick.
・It may not be able to recognize all subjects as per the settings.
・The camera may sometimes recognize non-animal subjects as animals.

Powerful support for hand-held shooting and video shooting on the move
8.0-stop (center) / 7.0-stop (periphery) 5-axis B.I.S.*
7.0-stop (center) / 7.0-stop (periphery) 5-axis Dual I.S. 2**
The LUMIX S1II features a 5-axis B.I.S. (Body Image Stabilizer) that effectively compensates for handshake, even with lenses that do not have O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer), allowing for slower shutter speeds of up to 8.0-stops (center) / 7.0-stops (periphery).*
In the telephoto range, where the compensation effect of the B.I.S. alone is reduced, the 5-axis Dual I.S. 2 works in conjunction with the 2-axis O.I.S. to achieve a compensation effect of 7.0-stops (center) / 7.0-stops (periphery).** This enables you to express your creativity without worrying about handshake in various situations, including low-light environments and at telephoto distances.
*Center: 8.0-stop; Periphery: 7.0-stop. Based on the CIPA 2024 standard [Yaw/Pitch/Roll direction: focusing distance f = 60mm when S-R2060 is used. 5-axis.]
**Center: 7.0-stop; Periphery: 7.0-stop. Based on the CIPA 2024 standard [Yaw/Pitch/Roll direction: focusing distance f=105mm when S-R24105 is used. 5-axis.]

Compensate for perspective distortion with cropless mode*
Advanced E.I.S. + Active I.S.
The LUMIX S1II provides powerful support for hand-held video shooting while moving. Active I.S. detects camera shake and optimizes the compensation ratio in pitch, yaw, and roll directions to effectively reduce significant shake. E.I.S. reduces perspective distortion that occurs during video shooting. The combination of these two functions allows you to record smooth videos even when shooting on the move. Furthermore, Boost I.S. helps maintain a steady composition during handheld stationary shooting.

When shooting wide-angle
The camera has Cropless mode*, which compensates for perspective distortion when shooting wide-angle without changing the angle of view.
When using anamorphic lenses
The LUMIX S1II delivers enhanced compensation performance when using anamorphic lenses, now also supporting roll-axis correction.

*This feature can be set using a LUMIX S Series lens. There may be a reduction in the peripheral luminosity when Cropless is set depending on recording conditions such as the lens used, focal length, etc.
**There will be variations in the correction effect depending on recording conditions such as the lens used, the focal length, the video mode used for recording, etc.
