Kuala Lumpur – August 18, 2025 – The Kid Witness News (KWN) program, a global initiative dedicated to nurturing young talent in video production and storytelling, hosted its annual Award Ceremony today at Panasonic Home.2.Com Solution Centre, The Vertical Podium Bangsar South Kuala Lumpur, celebrating the remarkable achievements of young filmmakers from across the region.
This year’s theme challenged participants to select one Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) and produce a compelling video that raises awareness, encourages action, or demonstrates solutions related to the goal. The initiative aims to foster global citizenship and promote understanding of critical environmental and social issues among youth.
A total of 35 videos were submitted this year, created by enthusiastic students from a diverse range of schools. Specifically, 14 videos from 11 primary schools and 21 videos from 19 secondary schools showcased the talents and social awareness of young filmmakers across the region.
Prior to the ceremony, a comprehensive workshop was held on July 14, 2025, quipping students with essential skills in video production, including storyboarding, filming techniques, editing and messaging, to help them produce impactful SDG-themed videos.
The winners from both the primary and secondary school categories will represent Malaysia at the upcoming global competition, which will be held online on 25 October 2025 at 20:00hrs.
