At the Olympic Winter Games Sochi 2014, Panasonic supplied 89 sets of the “HD Visual Communication System (HDVC),” first adopted as official equipment at Vancouver 2010. The system made connectivity possible between remote locations with standard Internet access, allowing conversations in Full HD image and sound quality. The HDVC system became an indispensable tool for the operation of the Olympic Games.

The Main Unit

  1. Proprietary AV processing technology achieved high-quality image and sound with low latency and bandwidth.
  2. Automatic rate-control technology minimized video glitches and sound disruptions to almost zero.
  3. HDMI cables provided ease of connectivity with full high-definition television (Full HDTV) and video cameras.

Dedicated Camera

  1. Equipped with the 1/3-type Full HD MOS sensor and high-magnification optical zoom lens. The camera allows for recording in Full HD from distant locations.
  2. Captures important scenes in their maximum beauty using three new filters for image correction - DRS, HybridNR, and Flesh Tone mode.
  3. Ease of connection and installation allowed for flexible indoor camera layout.
